I had one light gun game that I loved. It was called Elemental Gearbolt and playing it was almost zen like. The music was part of it, but it had a high level of skill involved that focused your attention. There was a combo system that could work through the whole game, even through chapters.

I have been thinking about buying one of the $100-200 newfangled light guns that work with old ps2's on newer tvs so I can play it again. It's a ton just for one game, but I loved playing it so much and miss how calm it made me. Never found another game that made me feel the same way.

Watched a lets play yesterday of it and didn't realize how much I miss it. Also the lets play had someone playing with 2 light guns which is something I never tried. Dual wielding them would be kinda awesome, although you couldn't get as high of a score obviously.

I was better with 1 gun then the dude with 2 though lol, I had that game so down it was crazy.

Yonder: the cloud catcher chronicles. It's so peaceful and quiet, with no enemies. You just run around and do stuff and make discoveries.

The Destiny games were always a good 'time to turn off my brain' kind of time.

Gravity Rush games are really relaxing, atmospheric and fun to move around in.

Building in Minecraft when I've come up with a large project that breaks down into smaller monotonous phases.

As an example, I've developed a habit of building subway tunnels when I create new worlds, where I dig out 3x3 tunnels and then lay rail down - but because I'm way too OCD, I have to resurface everything (which means I'm actually digging 5x5 tunnels, or sometimes even 7x7). So it just becomes a total "turn off your brain" process for long stretches of time.

I'll also build automatic cobblestone generators and then just spend hours harvesting from them to have the raw materials to work on other building projects.

Firewatch was an interesting experience.

Stardew Valley also made me feel a range of emotions I've not felt playing a game before. I'm not sure why.

Usually, Animal Crossing is pretty chill for me, unless I need to go fishing. I usually am vibing while playing Pokmon and Stardew Valley too. Well, unless I have to fish in Stardew Valley.

Games with resource gathering as a main feature, in general. My top picks are:

Starbound - Sidescrolling interplanetary survival game dubbed 'Terraria in Space'. Exploring and mining the underground sections of planets easily makes me lose track of time.

Mindustry - Factorio-like, scifi-styled, resource management/RTS game. Once a sector is captured I'm free to safely build whatever elaborate mining operation my heart desires, then watch the cute little minerals/products flow into my base.

Also, I know the first 3 Spyro games like the back of my hand, so replaying those is nostalgic and (mostly) relaxing.
