Gonna be honest, I was not expecting so much back and forth banter on day 1 with nothing concrete to go on. I feel like I will be a more talkative and hopefully productive player by day 2 once I've gotten my sea legs a bit more, and there is more to go off of. I'll try and form some gut thoughts going forward though when I can.

I don't expect you to go through as much effort as I just did with looking up every single post from a player, so no worries on that. But I think by the end of the day, you should at the very least be able to say "I like this one player's posts from today. I dislike this one player's posts from today." Just to give us an idea of who's making sense to you or not. You'd be surprised how many times we've nailed scum to the wall on D1 with zero concrete info. (and not so surprised at all the times we've failed.)

Honestly I've been weighing the soft flavor claim as more Town leaning and it's kept me at arm's length from Isquen.

Is there something specific about it, or just you don't think scum Isquen would bother with breadcrumbing like that?

the difference is that the former was lea intervening in a less scumhunting/defending-based context. different kind of heat. my view is that the intention is still the same, to refocus everyone from something just taking up space

Maybe the humor in the first line just didn't read well to me, but the "You have no reads!" followed immediately by saying they have a similar town list and think the game is in a similar state.

Me saying "you have no reads" was an indirect jab at Lea. She was (effectively) saying that the town leans I expressed in my third post of the day (the one that prompted Han, Lea, and Sultan to vote me) were undermined by me saying "these aren't conclusive" at the end. Thus, she argued, I typed a lot just to say I didn't actually have any reads.

So I figured I'd poke fun at her argument toward me by jokingly calling Ctes's post the same, to illustrate how silly it was. Because Ctes had an expansive town list with a similar "take these with a grain of salt" clause.

And it seems my joke had the intended effect given that you (rightfully) took offense to it! What I said was dumb. And I said it on purpose to illustrate a point.

I get a strange feeling from Sultan where it seems like he's forgotten all about his vote on Kirby at times.
I cant deny that Isquens bussing comment is strange as well.
I am glad to hear that Isquen is okay, but I also hope he comes back today (as rude as that request sounds to me)

It is easier to do when people are actually here at normal times. I don't understand why the mornings have suddenly become peak activity but that is...far and away my least favorite time of day.

But in reality I'm usually slightly more active if I'm spending a day at Disneyland(There is a lot of time standing around in lines in which mafia is a great outlet).

I was not actually at Disneyland last game. Actually I think I was but it was mostly between a day anyway so it didn't really count..

I want to elaborate on this if that's your take because I intended to criticize the attacks in that post.

I don't think a weak catch up post is a scumtell necessarily when it comes from a fairly new town player that tends to be attacked for not contributing enough, and I think it comes from a lack of understanding of how it is to be new town when you want to show you activity participate and be in a good spot as much about as you want to scumhunt. Perhaps you don't know what points to make but wants to show something, and that's hard after many posts. I'm not saying Isquen is town, I haven't been able to get a read either way, I just wanted to say that I could just as easily read the post as inexperienced town as scum when I saw some way more experienced players attack someone new and someone who mostly played in a different community for it.

So Red, JCs post aside, what do you think of the other events so far?

Meh. It was a lot of posts but maybe not as much information-filled as last game.

Hb is likely town(Random burst of angerish) and I cant not tunnel this but Lea hasn't irrationally tried to tunnel me for a day and that makes me wary.

The game has a feel of one of those instances where we twiddle our thumbs for awhile and then lynch sultan or something.

I wish I had a feeling like last game where it was like "you know i wish I could just shoot sbell" but meh.

Also still sad I -didn't- have a dayvig shot last game. That would have been a good one.

To be fair I dont think dayvig is nice in a game with a cult recruiter on a team of 2

That said I dont think Sbell is playing like he did in that game at all, and thats something I am glad to make note of.

Having said that I do like that Red is posting so maybe he learned his lesson.

What I dont like is Deaths tacit attack of sultans Kirby vote. It felt like he thought sultan was scummy but didnt want to commit to it yet. For someone who doesnt do cryptic posts leaving it at Huh, Sultan seems to have forgotten his vote. Weird felt odd.

Welcome to my mood for most of mafia.

I throw out a lot of statements to see if someone else can make more or less of it. Also if you want to be accurate, its not an attack on the vote but an attack on him talking as if he hadnt voted Kirby yet. Particularly this post.

And now that I see it again, him secondguessing himself away from Isquen because of 'likely real-life frustration that has nothing to do with gameplay' comes across as if it was rehearsed. Or fake in some way.

Awake and less concerned about IRL mortality. I do, however, have to get ready+go to work in an hour.

Lying-in-bed stream of consciousness thoughts as I skim:
- Lea leaning more townish, now. Scum Lea has been more flippant than that. Not a hard clear.
- ctes townlist does the "I'm town haha but not really" list of Oops! All Townreads and doesn't say anything negative/scumreading about anyone. Unbounded optimism makes me raise an eyebrow.
- Dumey, hello! I am not scum and am always very forthright about my unavailability no matter my alignment (with one notable case being the one over Christmas when I was travelling the entire EOD, got a smoking gun scan as evil, and died for it.) A lot of my reads, such as they are, get based on who gets convenient short term memory loss and goes after inactives that announced they'd be inactive. Sometimes it's a joke, sometimes it isn't. On that note:
- While it doesn't 100 percent clear him, a talkative red is usually scummy. This has not been a talkative red.
- On the subject of Ben, cut and paste that last point.

I have no hard scum reads right now. Sultan still looks awful to me and I can't quite put my finger on why. One nagging suspicion is because I pointed out the term "OMGUS" being questioned and I could SWEAR he's been in a game where it has been thrown around before.

The ISO question from someone else looked more genuine (and I always took it as "isolating the poster in a vacuum and reading their things from there.)

...That's all that readily springs to mind. "Day 1 lol" is my usual attitude because I have nothing to go on and fights usually resolve themselves through power role actions and role flips.

Pfffft I like how I hit refresh for a few minutes before freeform writing and 233 is the last post I had up... only for people to directly counter my thoughts before I even write them. Razzum frackum.

Han's was fishing, Lea's was cozying up. Sultan's smelled of "wait me too :D" from the timeframe.

Re: HB- basically him calling out Sultan on it, plus how he reacted to questions about it are kind of how I do.

I do need to reread end of topic 1 and start of topic 2 a bit more closely, though. I thought yesterday was going to be more low stress at work since I had a branch all by myself to run and then my work ethic got in the way.
