Always heard it was a great game and Im sort of a gaming completionist thats wants to experience a story in its entirety but Im not a PC/Xbox gamer for the first 2 games

Maybe best to watch some recap videos on the lore of 1&2 before I dive into 3?

It's like starting at Fallout 3.

I played TW3 without the others and loved it. Didn't feel like I needed to know anything previously as it's pretty self-contained.

I would just jump into the game. If you get interested then just look up the story versions on youtube for the first two games because imo neither one is fun to play.

you definitely can and still really enjoy it. you don't 'need' to know anything from the previous games, or the books, but it's a rich world with lots of existing lore and relationships which the game builds on. so you'd get more out of it if you knew all of that stuff and enjoyed it, but not knowing shouldn't lessen your experience with 3 in a noticeable way.

Yes. I wouldn't worry about the story of the earlier games much, and I wouldn't spoil them in case you want to go back to play then one day.

You'll miss out on backstory & references to things, but it's doable.

I'd play 2 at least it stills holds up pretty well The Witcher 1 is pretty much unplayable at this point.

I no longer have the time or patience for Witcher 1's bullshit. 2 doesn't fare much better

Well there yaa go. however, I do believe the upgrade gives the same quality, can't swear to it.

If I don't do my homework I get my as whooped though.

i prefer witcher 2 over witcher 3. the gameplay is very similar between them but witcher 2 has like 20x less content so i'm able to actually complete one playthrough of it. it does require 2 playthroughs or an earlier save file to experience all of it tho. act 2 changes depending on a decision earlier on

i tend to get bored of witcher 3 after around 80 hours and im usually only halfway through the story by then because i just spent that remaining time doing side quests and seeking out all those question marks on the map lol. done this about 3 times now -_-

Let's be fair Witcher 3's combat is nothing to write home about as well. The game is way too fucking easy. It's still a good game as a whole, but the gameplay is easily the games worst aspect.

I knew nothing about it going in. It's just a wholesome story about this guy wanting to reunite with his daughter. A feel good story for the whole family honestly.

Nah. I finished Blood and Wine recently and thus completed my full playthrough with expansions and honestly Geralt is a sweet and lovable guy who just wants to relax with a nice round of Gwent and maybe a visit to the brothel.
