Not a playthrough topic as I won't be playing regularly enough to update it.

But yes, playing that there game that the people are of the liking.

Only thing I know about it is that the last boss is that there Sekiro arm lady in the trailer named Melania, there's some Ludwig type monstrosity called Starcream Raubahn and the first boss is a MY NAME IS GYOUBU MASATAKA ONIWA reskin called Tree Sentinel and you're kind of supposed to run from him.

Also jump attacks are OP.

That's a good starting class for melee or bow use. It's better if you picked the gargoyle ashes. They also build up bleed effects, alongside your katana.

Alright back to smashing my head against a wall for another two or three hours.

This boss is kind of garbage.

Don't bother fighting the Tree Sentinel at first. ER is predicated in the player not fighting everything the first time they encounter an area. It's an open-world game, you're expected to come back to things.

On the other hand, there will be lots of trials if he rushes the castle first without exploring the other zones open to him. And, yes, technically you can skip past the castle too, but spoilers and whatnot...

I can't play the second phase of the boss locked on because if he jumps and bashes while I'm in melee range of him the camera shits its pants.

I don't understand why they would do this.

What level were you? There might be a photo mode that gets rid of the HUD? I never bothered on PC

you can set it so it's always there, if that's what you want. but other than that, nope.

That's unfortunate. I would prefer to play with it off but being able to bring it up if important. I guess I'll manage. For now at least.

Also I haven't unlocked leveling up yet as far as I can tell, so I'm still base level.

The greatest enemy you'll ever fight in ER is indeed the camera.

My tips would be, not every fight should be done locked on and also learn how to do a claw grip around your controller. You need to be able to rotate the camera while rolling and running during combat.

It always comes up in combat. And I'd your health or mana aren't at max, it'll always show them. I believe it'll also pop up if you cycle through your d-pad.

I imagine a not insignificant percentage of people think you need to beat the boss to leave.

Never once did I think exploring or staying in that cave was a good idea, especially because by the time you inadvertently get there, it should be obvious you can go wherever you want.

I wonder if there's a correlation between people fighting the sentinel over and over with people that head to the boss in the cave.

There's no map though and it locks out fast travel. If you make the wrong turn, you could end up heading deeper in instead of out. And a good number of games just do not explore.

What's garbage about him?

His pony's shoulder check has so little windup that you can't cancel out of an attack animation and dodge it, depending on how early in the animation you are. He can seemingly chain into it at any point in his combos if you're at his right front, which is exactly where he wants you to be and he'll be damn sure to contort to high heaven in his movement to get you there.

In phase two his shield bashing moves completely ruins your camera if he is in melee range when he does it and I literally had to uncomfortably play the phase locked off in a claw position to avoid just dying whenever he did it.

If you didn't like the camera on Tree Sentinel, ooh boy.

I'd at least recommend unlocking leveling up first.

Tree Sentinel will be there when you go back.

I like how Tree Sentinel was supposed to be an introduction to FromSoft Miyazaki style "Come back in 50 levels when you can fight this guy" and everyone on the internet tried to fight him at level 1.

I knew he'd murder me but I wanted to know just how hard he'd murder me.

TC doesn't know this because he's a samurai, but he has a special fuck you move for spellcasters who think they can outrange him. If you start firing projectiles at him, he throws his shield up and it starts to glow. If you hit the shield, it immediately retaliates with a laser.

Anyway, I picked up a warpick and I'm kind of digging it. A little too close range in some situations, but it's fast bashing attacks and shield kicking is pleasing to my face. Also explored a bit and found a "boss" that was just a werewolf with a cleaver. I punched his face in and got a talisman! Going from 4 to 1 ring slots is :(

Also found a gank boss in a dark ass cave that was too spooky to retry :(

Not sure how much I should dick around or if I should just move on in the story. Like, if I had dicked around a bunch after tree sentinel it seems I wouldn't have unlocked leveling, so that would have sucked.
