After reading the post description, how well do you think you will handle it?

You're now your current age, but in the early 90s. You are stuck this way for 2 years but will revert back like nothing happened. Doesn't matter how or why it happened, but it did. Your monetary status, family & friend status as it is now will be the same once you get back to 2023. It will be like you never left and nothing you do in the 90s can change that. You will also not see any of your family or friends while in the early 90s or have any interaction with them.

You're required to live life in the early 90s. Whatever job or lifestyle you currently have (or don't have), you will be in a similar status or role to the closest equivalent in the early 90s. In order to return back to 2023, you will at least need to maintain your current wellbeing (socially, financially, etc) at the end of the 2 year mark.

You can use the knowledge you have now, but you can't really go around talking about it or becoming exceedingly wealthy during your time there. No one will believe you and it just won't work out.

How do you do? Are you nervous living as your current age in the early 90s?

Yeah I'd be fucked without my heart medication. And there's the risk of me bringing back covid with me.
Anyway I try to warn Hillary about 9/11, Monica Lewinsky, Donald Trump and covid 19

Maybe her husband won't get a BJ that sets the world back 50 years this time

Current age. It will all be like it was just a dream. You'll immediately be dropped back into the same scenario you're currently in. What you do with your experience going forward is up to you. Once you do return, you won't really feel like it has been an entire 2 years. But you will feel time as normal while you're in the 90s.

You'd be able to have your medications. Unless your medications or a closest equivalent didn't exist in the 90s.

Like I said your current status more or less remains the same. It's just the 90s, so a lot of things will be different, too.

This is a bit convoluted.

So if I was working at some job paying say $100k a year today, that would be about $48k in 1992. So basically I would magically show up working for a job equivalent to what I have today, but making like $48k. If I have an apartment or own a house today, I would have an apartment or own a house in this time. In order to succeed, I basically need to continue making at least $48k a year and having a house or apartment? Is that it? If they leave the job they have, they will magically have a resume that allows them to continue or what? And socially, you magically have as many friends then as you do now and have to maintain that number?

What about someone that is unemployed and has $10k to their name, equivalent of $4800 in 1992. Do they just need to remain unemployed with at least $4800?

Yeah, basically you would be living the same life you lead now, only 90s equivalent. If you are comfortable now, you may be comfortable living in the 90s. Or uncomfortable now, uncomfortable living in the 90s (or maybe more comfortable, who knows?)

The main point is that things would be a lot different and you would have to live and adapt with the lifestyle and technology of the early 90s. All of the conveniences you may enjoy now (smartphone, Xbox Live, Internet etc) will be gone.

In that case, I think I'd do pretty well. I'd have a cushy government job with lots of vacation time. I'd use it as an opportunity to do some of the shit you could do back then that is banned now. Like climbing the largest pyramid at Chichen Itza or Giza, some of the hikes at Zion and Yosemite that you can't do anymore, maybe visit Syria and see all the sites before they got blown up by ISIS.

Write Harry Potter series

Unless you are a really skilled writer, I doubt you'd make a bunch of money off a half remembered Harry Potter recreation.

A lot of Harry Potter's success was luck. It's nothing all that unique as a story, a typical heroes journey. There was good timing, JK Rowling had a feel good story of a broke woman on welfare writing a book. Any number of small changes happen and I bet a Harry Potter series doesn't go beyond a first book with a single printing.

If it even gets that far, to be honest.

If my lifestyle is and job is similar to now, my workload would be easier as the job was significantly lower in terms of expectations back then, especially in this part of the world. Im very comfortable now but Id have been even more comfortable back then. It would be interesting to see what the city was like decades before I arrived. Id also to spend some time in neighbouring countries in that time period which would be cool.
