I guess apparently they had made a pledge to the public at large that they would make their club a safe space for all people, and that they would ban anything they deemed transphobic, Chappelle said on the podcast. This is a wild stance for an artistic venue to take, especially one thats historically a punk rock venue.

I hate how this has given comedians the reputation of "everyone's so triggered by everything now!" when most of them aren't even like that. A lot of comics have actually turned on Chappelle because of it as well. Hell, even Anthony Jeselnik has.

I mean, he is a comic that basically went from star to Superstar because a lot of his comedy was about trashing poor, drug addicted, black people, and A LOT of white people latched onto his jokes with the thought process of "well, if he can say it, we can too!".

It's become one of those situations where, he may not "hate" trans people, but people that DO hate trans people consider him an ally.

Kinda like the idea that Donald Trump isn't a racist, but people who are racist see Trump as "one of them".
