I dont understand how somebody can reach adulthood having had no friends. Few friends? Sure. Bad friends? Also seems possible.

No friends at all? Just dont get it.

C. Literally every "friend" I had when I was growing up ended up bullying me, and every relationship I've been in was abusive. At this point I'm too old to be making friends, too old for relationships. I've basically given up. Not to mention having friends is expensive. I can't afford to be doing stupid shit like going to a bar or movie theater.

Millions of people suffer from loneliness. More than 300 million people globally dont have a single friend, according to Gallup data

Can't really believe it but at the same time I kinda do.

Bad personality, poor social skills, bad location, social anxiety and depression being active hindrances, etc.

Because they're not here around me and I can't go places with them?

Plus, I wouldn't even say I have e-friends. No one messages me or anything.

If they cared about me, they'd be messaging me.

They're not, so they don't care. Friends care about each other.

In this increasingly interconnected world, I would say e-friends count. Sure, they can't take you places if they live far away, but you're still interacting with them every day.

I've always had friends. We don't hang out quite as often these days but I still see them. I had a couple friends over just last weekend actually.

Every day? Quite presumptuous of you, and also quite wrong. I don't even get once a week.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

I did at one point, but you give up after a while of them not responding.

Don't have friends, barely talk with family, don't know how to connect with people other than trolling online so they'll pay attention to me or just saying meaningless forgettable things in big topics. I genuinely feel like I don't belong in this world at times considering how many normal things either feel me with an incomprehensible fear or flat out alien concepts to me. So instead I wear the face of a pretender and have for years and through that awkward guise realize that my likes, my dislikes, my interests, my desires, my hopes, my dreams are all artificial, borrowed, hollowed, not real, I'm a blank state, trying desperately to remain that way for fear of slipping away whit can barely be called a personality or living thing I have. I'm broke, a broken human that doesn't work right, a defect. a mistake. The only consistent thing is a reoccurring dream of a grassy field under the moonlight and a small lake, every time I think of that place that I have not been to or know I feel at a strange sense of comfort.

I wonder, the things I do, the things I think I like, the things I think I dislike, are they just the influence of othersiders and i aborbed them to try and understand or did I cling to them to create some kind of indivuality? Just what am I? Who am I? could I even be this and have invented a twisted reason to reject this or am I simply too afraid to accept what I cannot see or understand out of some kind of undisclosed trauma. Whatever the case, the pain and unease will be with me til the day I did, I don't have the ability to get help, the ability to find someone who cares nor the strength to overcome. I'll die full of pointless questions, erratic thoughts and strange feelings I don't understand. I still remember the one time I actually did unload all this on a nurse asking how I was feeling as part of the typicl doctor's visit and they just said okay and carried on like normal.

Distance can be a major factor. The guy that I consider to be my best friend now lives the better part of 6,000 miles away. That will definitely put strain on the relationship.

There was about 7 of us that hung out regularly from when we were 11 until about our mid to late 20's. Bums me out that those times are pretty much over, but that's apart of getting older and life taking us in different directions.

what do you think of when you think of a friend? is it just someone you talk to when you're bored? because that is a sponge. so maybe that's why you don't think of your efriends as real friends? idk.

in terms of making rl friends, you actually have to be in a good place in life.
