Probably my favorite song by them

But really don't listen to them much, couldn't name another song by them or another band member outside of Bono and The Edge

I find it super funny to sing-quote this song at people. It's hilarious that this song used to play every single fucking day everywhere and now it never plays. But yeah, I've never been into U2 and find a fair bit of their material (especially post-2000) to be obnoxious.

also...hadn't seen the video and lmfao it is atrocious, expensive, and bizarre that it was part of Tomb Raider looool

War is a top album, but I dont really like most of what came before or nearly all afterwards.

War is awesome all the way through though. This or Seconds is probably my favorite:

Most of their music I do like came from Achtung and Joshua Tree. Then there was a period I didn't care for their new music, a period I technically did like their new music but it aired too much on every radio station including ones it didn't make sense to air U2 on, and then back to not caring about their new material. This last time, though, was proceeded by them forcing one of their albums onto almost everyone's iPod at the time, whether they wanted it or not; so between that and Bono's sanctimonious crap, I found myself just not caring about the band in general.

I love Lord Jesus, Family Matters (for Steve & Laura which I typed up a beautiful alt from Just One Date episode) and FFIX (for Zidane & Garnet).

The red rocks concert from 83 or whatever is awesome. Bono may be a douche canoe now, but no denying the guy could sing his ass off back then.

I've never been a fan. There was a very short period in the mid-90s (basically Zooropa and the Batman Forever soundtrack) where they had a couple songs I kind of liked, but that's about it. I sort of feel the same about the Smashing Pumpkins (I like some stuff off Ava Adore, hated everything else).

I like "How Soon is Now?", but that's pretty much it. And if I'm honest, I didn't even like their version as much as I like the Love Spit Love version.

When it comes to 80s bands of that era and with a similar sort of fandom, I'm much more likely to go with The Cure.

If you put aside your pride, I'm sure you'll find one that you desire, and it'll be a beautiful day for you.

Same, them and Psychedelic Furs are usually my go-to for that kind of mildly gloomy dramatic stuff just shy of goth.

Countless great songs; but people vote "eh" because they don't like Bono's strives to try and win a Nobel Peace Prize.
Why not judge the MUSIC and not the BAND MEMBERS ??

To be fair, I've disliked them since the 80s.

Fun story - back in 5th grade (so around 1987-88), I had a weekly class that was basically improv class (it was called "Creative Arts"), where we'd get different prompts and then have to put on group sketches using random props and whatever dialogue we made up. It was supposed to encourage teamwork and creativity.

One of the prompts we got one week was "Standing on line to buy tickets for a U2 concert". Every member of our group complained that we would never wait on line for a U2 concert because U2 sucked, so we asked the teacher if we could substitute another band in instead.

We wound up going with Genesis (probably based on the fact that Land of Confusion had come out not that long before and was pretty popular/fun).

I also remember watching the 1987 MTV Video Music Awards, which was the year that Joshua Tree was out, and With or Without You had a ton of nominations (and lost nearly all of them). And I remember being happy that they kept losing because I didn't want them to win.

But I will say that Bono has pretty much always been a massive tool.

They're the epitome of 3/10 boomer rock waiting room music.

Pride - masterpiece.
Beautiful Day - masterpiece.
Still haven't Found What I'm Looking For - masterpiece
Hold Me Thrill Me - Very good song

Yeah, they "certainly" made "generic soulless pop music".
Go back to worshipping Kate Perry and the other tools.
