My friend built me a PC back in 2017. Elden Ring showed me that its time to upgrade. I purchased it on PC and then had to immediately buy it again for PS5 just to be able to run it.

Anyway, I suck at building PCs because 1) Idk how and 2) apparently not all parts from all manufacturers go together so I need help. I want it to have the best graphics card and an amazing monitor.

2017 isn't that long ago, you might be able to get away with just a GPU upgrade or maybe adding some more memory.

It's sarcasm. Last I paid attention, Alienware isn't a bad choice if you're going for a gaming laptop, but for a desktop they're insanely overpriced compared to just building it yourself (like 2-3 times more expensive, and they skimp on lower-profile parts like PSU's).

I have an Alienware desktop, though I wanted to build my own, I got it last year, when the GPU shortage was at its peak, so felt it was much easier to get a 3090. $5,500 CAD total, when 3090s were going for around $3,500 at the time if I recall correctly. So overall I think I did alright.

Yeah, the component pricing shenanigans of the last couple years have thrown a wrench into such value calculations. I haven't kept on top of them enough to make that particular comparison very well.

Since BitCoin crashed the prices of graphics cards are back down at much more reasonable numbers. Well, for anything EXCEPT the 4000 series since NVidia somehow didn't get the memo...

Currently, a 4090 is, yes.

The most recent gen of graphics cards is a real shit show. Buying top of the line right now would be foolish.

Buying top of the line is always pretty foolish. You pay a substantial premium and get pretty much nothing for it (at least nothing that will be realized any time soon, by which point equivalents to the current top of the line will be much cheaper).

So, which graphics card do you guys recommend?

I feel like Nvidia 30 series is hitting the sweet spot right now. Pick something there that matches your budget.

Go nuts. Hell, grab a 3090ti, and I'm sure you wouldn't be disappointed

Alienware is owned by Dell, so skip the weird-looking cases and brand-name markup and buy a Dell XPS. You can get some pretty good gaming stuff, for a lot lower price.
