Xiahou_Shake 01/05/23 12:51:39 PM #8:	FromSoft's Souls-y games have a sliding scale of tight to sprawling design that goes from Bloodborne to Elden Ring, with Dark Souls in the middle. There's definitely merit to all of them and honestly as amazing as Elden Ring is, its sheer size makes it equal parts exhilarating and exhausting. Though I've never played a game in the Soulsbourne series, I presume that Elden Ring only makes Dark Souls obsolete if you play Elden Ring first. Like it's rough to go backward to Persona 3 if you played P5 first. Which is why you start with P3. Because then you know what it is going in. And P3 does do some things better (i.e. balancing combat with social linking) but it's hard to appreciate because of the things it does worse (the amount of sucky NPC S-links, no ability to control your party, etc.). Again, never played any Soulsboune game. I DO have the first Dark Souls and Bloodbourne, but I don't even know if my PC will run Elden Ring and I just built it last June!
