Yeah see someone has drafted Silksong the past two years and gotten burned.

I've gone for good to great games that I know are coming out and it's worked. My only weakness is Spooky games (Back 4 Blood, Dying Light) letting me down. Thank God I held back on Calisto Protocol. Though I also talked myself out of Neon White last year too.

But yeah, swinging big for an unannounced game is going to pay off for someone at some point, but I'm sticking to stuff that has a >75% chance of dropping this calendar year

Does Sea of Stars count as a sleeper?

Hmmm... Probably good for an 85-88 of it improves on Messenger at all, which I would consider good enough. That was never on my radar though, so good call.

You could take a chance with Alan Wake 2 I think, especially given how good Control was

Baldurs Gate III if early access is generally ok

Octopath Traveler II is probs a safe 80 or so.

Early access doesn't count until it gets an official release date. See Multiversus from last year on my picture, even though it had a score it never came out of early release, so no points. (Which was good for me since I counter picked it)

Yep. I'm also using Chained Echoes as a comparison - Sea of Stars will probably get more attention but I'm also expecting it to be a better game.

I don't think I did very well this year, I reached hard on Kill the Justice League, but counterpoint: Samoa Joe. Also if Hades 2 comes out of early release I am FUCKED.

But it's only January and I have 7 slots to fill up on bids so we'll see.

My reaction as well.

I think that's pretty good so far. Forspoken is the biggest mystery there, but I have a feeling it will turn out better than expected. Suicide Squad too I suppose, but it's still by Rocksteady and they've been working on it forever. You'll be good with that one.

Looking at the release calendar, Atomic Heart and The Wolf Among Us 2 are my sleeper selections. Have the Dead Space remake and Street Fighter 6 already been taken? Ohhh, and the Forza Motorsport games always score ridiculously high.

Dead Space was the 4th overall pick right before me, or I'd have definitely taken it at some point. I feel like it was done intentionally because they all know I nab the spooky games. But even then, why leave me RE4?

Atomic Heart, Forza, and SF6 all both off the board in later rounds, Wolf Among Us still available and I've considered dropping in a small bid for it. I got Sea of Stars literally one pick before it was going to be taken, as unbeknownst to me he had kick-started it forever ago and thought he could sneak it at the end.

I'm projected 2nd right now but it's a long year, and I still need another counterpick at some point.

I did a draft tonight. Our league setup this year is 7 drafted, 2 pickups, and 1 counter. I'm the league manager and wasn't fully sure what I was doing. Anyway, my draft was:

I don't know how active the league is gonna be so that's why I only did 2 pickups for the year. But it was fun doing the draft and the gang seemed to enjoy it too so that was nice. Last place has to buy the winner a game that released in 2023.
