So yea, obviously vegan for health reasons and not animal welfare or whatever...

Anyways, I was over at his machine shop yesterday and he set a bunch of mouse traps the day before because he found a few mice turds in some of his tool drawers. As I am shoveling snow, he get all happy and comes running to me with a mouse trap with a dead mouse in it exclaiming "Got the little bastard!!!" then chucks the dead mouse into the nearby field before setting the trap again.

Then after we get done in the shop we go back to his house for some vegan chili.

Came in to point this out.

Speaking as a homeowner, sometimes you just want destructive vermin to fucking die. When something gets in and starts ruining your stuff, it can feel really satisfying to finally put an end to it.

This is like half the reason I own a cat.

He's dumb as hell, but god help me if he isn't deeply involved in catching mice when he scents one.

I caught him staking out a mouse path for hours one night.

Yeah. I'm glad my cat takes care of them... My dogs, too... But when my dogs would catch one, I would throw them out front to draw cats around to the house. Which would also help with keeping them out. My backyard frequently has cats roaming around now... Which works for me...
