It was because when Carol Danvers first showed up in the MCU, it was being implied that she would be more powerful than the Avengers, with barely any build up. People didn't like someone new just appearing out of nowhere and taking the spotlight

Endgame showed later that she wasn't as strong as people feared. She is fine. She's unliked by people in the comics too. The character is meant to be abrasive. She was the villain in Civil War 2. She isn't perfect. If she had single handedly solved Endgame, it would be a problem, but it didn't happen

It basically boils down to one word:

insecurity

For me, the personality of the actor affects me. If they seem nice, I like them. If they are not, then I don't.

If you look up those Google auto complete interview. Compare her to someone say Chloe Grace Moretz, the difference is night and day.

Like I don't really like Ryan Reynolds either.

It wasn't about Marvel or women reviewers, it was support for POC reviewers and their points of view for films with predominantly black casts/directors.

Lol dude how and/or why the hell do you even know about any of that? Were you a fan prior? Following her career? Was that the moment you suddenly had a strong opinion on her?

I pretty much don't take anyone that has a strong opinion on her seriously. Like, either way. She's a.. idk, an actress that isn't terrible or great or even really on my radar but I'm fucking positive she wasn't on hardly anyone else's either till it got "political".

Fragile men took her comments out of context. Lots of men are programmed to scream "sexism" at women, ironically not noticing how sexist they are themselves.

But she's made numerous horrible sexist and racist comments that make her come across as a nasty and self absorbed person. Same reason a lot of people dislike Letitia Wright.

And her performance in Captain Marvel (which to my knowledge is her biggest role) was terrible.

"Hate" feels like a loaded word but I think a lot of people try to deflect valid criticism by calling it hate. See Elon Musk and Donald Trump and Jacob Rees Mogg.
