they could Viper but that would be a terrible move because it would also send Wong over

yeah this literally just happened to me. I secured the left lane and had two choices. 1) Hob the middle lane with two empty spaces to probably get the win, or two 2) Hob the right lane that had Wong active and I had locked down with Spidey. But I was afraid I Hob would return bc of Wong and went with the right lane....and I happened to have priority and he played Odin.

what a beautiful combo of locations and starting hand (Hood, scorpion, baron). The Ruins were originally Lukes Bar.

I forced-fed the guy 6-cost cards that he absolutely could not play and then scorpiond his hand too. Felt so perfect

My account logged me out somehow and it was saying my account didn't exist. Apparently the only way to resolve it is to go through the whole tutorial again and then sign out and sign back in.

Really weird.

Thanks. Yeah. I do that all the time with Bar Sinister. My favorite is filling a location with rocks.

Anyway I just got Goose Avatar that's gonna be a keeper forever until I get Mysterio or Omega Red I think. Very happy with that.

I'm having way too much fun with my Galactus Deck.

Add Electro to play him early, Death to take advantage of all the chaos, Nova and Okoye to buff him, Wolverine to emerge from the ashes... it is so much fun.

Galactus is the one scenario where I wouldn't feel bad playing Leader

Any fans of discard decks around here?

It's been my favourite archetype basically as soon as I got Apocalypse, but it was basically "i only have a few discard cards and fill it with whatever else to make it work" with Sword Master, Lady Sif, Blade, and Wolverine for awhile and I just stuffed any card related to discard that came along (Swarm, Morbius, Moon Knight, Ghost Rider)

I just bought Black Cat from the shop and then immediately right after pulled Colleen Wing from a cache - now I'm finally at hte point I need to think about what I'm trying to do

I look at cards in a few groups:

Cards that can discard

Blade, Sword Master, Lady Sif, Moon Knight, Colleen Wing, Black Cat (Discards herself)

Cards that want to be discarded

Apocalypse, Swarm, Wolverine

Cards that want discards to happen in general

Morbius, Ghost Rider

So the goal is to get good value out of the cards that want to be discarded - which Apocalypse and Swarm both do. The trick is just making sure they get discarded. Wolverine is OK to be discarded - but I don't know that it's *great* value when he does. Just a free 3 point body on the board. I feel like he's here as a placeholder for something better to come along - but only have two cards that want to be discarded feels not great.

Morbius and Ghost Rider are nice bonuses that benefit as things are happening. Realistically the game isn't in a state that I should try to discard something every turn, so they are good plays there. The sucky thing is just that they may get caught in the crossfire of being discarded.

I think Black Cat is good.... she thins the hand to make it easier to target a card I really do want to discard, and makes it a lot more likely Ghost Rider will have something good to pull. Worst case I just actually play her as a 3/6 which seems good.

Colleen Wing is a good ad - I can finally target Swarm - and copying Swarm reduces the risk that cards I don't want discarded get hit when I use the rando discards. However - is aiming for this actually any good.... it feels like Swarm getting out of control means Apocalypse is going to never get discarded again. Turn 6 can still be strong if there's space for the Swarm, but if not, not having the big Apocalypse drop seems weak

I tried using Strong Guy recently - but getting rid of every card seems tough even in a Discard deck. Since he doesn't actually help my discarding game plan and he doesn't always come online, he seems like I should cut him for the new cards. But maybe Black Cat will make him better?

I'm kinda wondering if I need to tone down the "every card should be discard related idea" and fill in with different cards, and maybe there needs to be different kinds of discard decks working towards different goals. Not sure though.

What are people thinkin about discard?

not sure how i feel about crystal and morbius in this deck so far. The idea with crystal is that i can at least reshuffle if my hand is ass by turn 4. I dont think i have enough discard opportunities to make morbius shine. I want hell cow.

Hmmm stacking in things like Infinaut for the discard to get with Ghost Rider does seem like a good way to focus a deck towards Ghost Rider....

Judging from how people emote when I play Galactus, people are hyped as shit to lose to him. I get tons of thumbs up and fist bump emojis when I manage to wreck the board.

Discard has a couple significant problems
1) Too inconsistent, since you cant control what gets discarded in the majority of cases
2)Apocalypse (and Hela to a lesser degree) is a very telegraphed play, so youre not likely to win many high-cube games even when your game plan comes together, because your opponent will just retreat

Strong Guy is a bit more viable once you get Hell Cow, but even then I think something with more consistency like Jessica Jones is probably better than him. Though one of those crazy Wong Gambit kill setups would certainly empty your hand I dont think youd have enough energy to also play Strong Guy, unless you ran Zabu as well

Dracula is a pretty good card for discard, and can usually beat Leader on turn 6. But if youre playing both Apocalypse and Dracula you definitely want to ditch Strong Guy

If youre up against a deck that played Mister Negative and Sera and on the final turn you think Im probably gonna be okay, youre not gonna be okay. Save yourself the cubes

Iron Man: 0 cost, 5 strength (and therefore 10 plus whatever else is there)
Mystique: 0 cost, 3 strength (see above)
Brood: 2 cost, 6 strength across 3 cards
Wolfsbane: 2 cost, probably 7 strength
Silver Surfer: 2 cost, another 6 strength to the Mystique lane and 9 to the Brood lane plus whatever else

All that in a single turn. The Brood/Wolfsbane/Silver Surfer combo can make a single lane go from 0 to 25 (while likely hitting other lanes). And if you manage to pull off Psylocke/Mister Negative, you could get lucky and pull Silver Surfer as a 0/3 and squeeze in yet another 3-cost card in that turn 6 combo.

I legitimately felt bad playing that deck.

The above deck was also the perfect Leader counter; Mystique interacts with Leader in a very useless way (she copies whatever card was played before Leader, not the Iron Man)

I love playing Mystique with the sound on and copying Iron Man and having her go "I Am Iron Man" (drop them both on the same turn for stereo "I Am Iron Man") it feels so satisfying to win with. That's probably the main reason I like Negative Surfer (which ironically doesn't even use Wolfsbane despite it being a good one-- no space)

I use this discard deck which mostly tries to discard Swarm and Apoc as many times as possible. Perfect game is Morb on 2, lockjaw on 3, Dracula on 4.

Then hopefully you can play 2 discards on Lockjaw on turn 5 and he'll pull 2 more discards (or Chavez).

There's a lot of scenarios and I like this deck because you really have to think sometimes too. I've gotten Apoc up to like 24 and Morbius to 10+ pretty easily with this deck.

Lockjaw and Dracula are pretty required for this deck though.

I want Mystique so bad

I think my favorite Mystique plays are when she copies whatever your Rogue just stole. I actually won once by stealing an Ant-Man in a lane where I had less than 4 cards and then copying it to another lane that did

Im not sure how many of those there are. I think the last noticeable one I had introduced Snap and Retreat. I unlocked a mystery card and it was Strong Guy who looks like a D-lister for the X-Men or something. Never heard of the guy before.

All of your Mystery Cards until you hit Collection Level 214 will come from the same pool of basic cards everyone gets at those levels (just in random order). Look up Marvel Snap Series 1 cards if you want to know the cards you might possibly get before then

Are the upgrade materials after matches randomized too? Feel like I get nothing for my 4-6 cards

Any card that you have less than 20 boosters of is slightly more likely to earn the boosters after a match. Other than that all cards in your deck have an equal chance of receiving them. There is one specific card that is an exception, but you wont have that card for a while yet.
