I would assume so. I don't think a church or priest should be forced. Not sure why anyone would want to be married by a bigoted priest anyway. Go to a non-priest or a priest that truly accepts you.

Religious freedom tends to be at the top of it.

Which is to say they believe that this will force certain religions to recognize (bless, officiate, etc.) marriages they believe invalid or immoral.

Which it doesn't, because language clarifying that was added some time ago.

This is the shit that makes no sense to me and I would love to see some rationale from them directly.

How in the hell can you be facing a bill that would invalidate your own marriage and vote no?

I just want to hear what they have to say. Are there reporters on this? Do people ever ask them? Do they ever have to face the media on stuff like this? I feel like we never have answers for stuff like this.

I agree. Even greedy, self serving people can occasionally do something decent. There was probably some ulterior profit for them, but this is progress nonetheless. Maybe both sides will learn to work together for a change because the strong opposition is keeping us from more progress.

Yes, and they get less freedoms than Christians such as how it is illegal for an athiest to be governor in some states.

No religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office, or public trust, in this State; nor shall any one be excluded from holding office on account of his religious sentiments, provided he acknowledge the existence of a Supreme Being.

Probably. It doesn't change that until they are it is 100% valid to say that we have laws that explicitly infringe upon atheist's rights.

DOMA was unconstitutional.

RFMA, is not. Here's my "CE's last conservative asshole" reasons why.
  • Marriage is not mentioned in the constitution, at all.
  • 9th amendment means marriage exists as a right outside of the constitution.
  • 10th amendment means legal marriage is relegated to the states.
  • 14th amendment means states can't limit who gets to be legally married.
