Absolutely fucking amateur hour stuff out here. Is this seriously what I need to put up with by being in my 30s?

Yeah apparently I need to. I consciously drink water when I'm having like 4 or 5 drinks, but never when it's just 2. That'll have to change.

Just get used to downing a 12 pack every night and then 1 or 2 beers won't give you a hangover

Yes, unfortunately. It just gets worse: less buzz, more hangover.

I've been told by more than a few people both directly and indirectly that being gay gives you a high resistence to the effects of alchohol. I'm bi and get drunk somewhat easier but I tend to be more able-bodied while drunk and don't get hangovers, worst thing tha thappens to me is I feel a bit drowsy in the morning but I never know if that's due to aging or what.

I am in my 40's can have two 22 oz beers in a few hour period and not feel it the next day. I imagine it might be some other health or diet related issues that are impacting this.

Sounds like you were already dehydrated before drinking, drink more water and you should be good, if you keep yourself hydrated and still get hangovers from that little of alcohol you should probably go to the doctor

I'm 42 and its hit or miss. I can have a few drinks and feel fine the next day, or randomly feel like ass when I wake up. Usually when I start mixing is when that happens though.

Honestly I think it was this. I hadn't drank much of anything aside from that yesterday. The hangover wasn't very serious either, just a lingering mild headache.

A mild headache could be a number of other things, unless you get them insanely rarely.

This, more or less.

Age starts to chip away at a lot of things you used to be able to get away with without consequences as a young person. When I was younger, I used to pull all-nighters, get by on about 4 hours of sleep, and generally have energy all day. Now I tend to feel like shit if I don't get a full 8 hours, and if I go too far out of my usual cycle without sleep I start to feel like I'm dying.

I would have said more or less the same thing when I was 33. But I definitely started feeling it a bit more once I neared 40, and I'm at the point now where I don't even really drink at all anymore because even a couple drinks makes me feel completely wrung-out the next day.

Part of it is just general tolerance (you're going to handle alcohol much more effectively when you drink every day and your body builds up a tolerance for it, as opposed to if you're older and drinking more infrequently and your tolerance is fading), but part of it is definitely the body getting older and more worn out.

The secret is to stay drunk so you never have a hangover. Can't even tell if I'm sober or not at this point.
