I finished Moon's dex in a few weeks and I finished Shield's dex just a few weeks before gen 9 came out, I finished Violet's dex in under 8 days. They even let me keep an extra of the cover legendary and let me get a shiny event eternatus. For large ones (so not dragons like gible or dreepy or dugtrio) you don't even have to jump onto that ledge. You just have to let it render for like 5-10 secs then if you see no shiny ride back to the edge of the crystal and then forward to the edge and watch them render a new set.
