Again, match 1 is strong but I find myself voting for the thing I have listened to less over the past few years. I have never heard this LaTale track before but the vibes of both are incredibly similar, kinda crazy huh?

The trumpet and synths in Rogues Gallery are fun. I like the piano solo bit at the outro, though I wish it lasted longer. Western Gunrun is literally the same song as Rogues Gallery. I do really enjoy the key change in the second half of Western Gunrun, so it gets the edge for me.

Some nice strings and piano in Flowing Time. I kinda wish the clock ticking samples were a bit more subtle than they are. They kinda get in the way imo. Still a nice song tho. Forest del Chivo is super cool. Nice mallet percussion, acoustic guitar, and trumpets. Definitely going with this one.

Seto Kaiba is pretty cool with the industrial percussion and all. Don't have a lot more to say about that one. After the Sequel was easily my favorite of the Sonic sets during the nomination period, and For Foliage Furnace is a great example of why. Sublime production, cool synths, and memorable melodies. Just a super cool song all-around.

out of the sonic mania set, this might be my least favourite, though that doesn't really say too much because i still supported the set and i was adamant on focusing on sets i consider altogether strong those horns are delicious. i was worried that gunrun was gonna be derivative from the intro (my first time listening to it!) and i'm glad that it really takes a wild direction while still being "western" flavoured. great matchup.

fuck this match 2 another situation where stuff i /really/ like cannibalises the other flowing time has such gorgeous strings and usage of a time "motif". it feels so dreamy but forest del chivo man oh man, the constant percussion and the effortless flow of the guitar both of these tracks are very "me" in different ways. this one was tough!

maybe it's bc i know who seto kaiba is going into this track, but it really screams, to quote a famous piece of yu-gi-oh parody content here "screw the rules, i have money" it is very big and bold. for foliage furnace so fucking funky. funking. preference goes to the latter but i am extremely happy forbidden memories was picked for snubs!! such a cool track i hadn't listened to in a very long time (since before i started curating my vgm better)

MATCH 1

Both songs are pretty solid and carry similar feelings for me. It was a pretty close match at first while listening, but the part after the key change towards the end of Western GunRun sealed the deal for me. Really cool part and definitely stood out above the rest of the song and above Rogues Gallery.

MATCH 2

Flowing Time is a blend thats chill in some parts and dramatic at others. Its a decent song, though theres something about it that makes it stop at decent despite having elements of stuff I like such as pianos and violins.

Forest del Chivo isnt all that remarkable for me. Dont really have anything to say about it.

MATCH 3

Ive grown on Seto Kaiba a lot since first hearing it in VGMC. Really cool and interesting song!

Mantra - For Foliage Act 3 is pretty cool too. I really like the bright melody it has. Somewhat close match. That delay lama sounding thing at parts like 0:16 is throwing me off though lol.
