Lost too much money on the stock market casino already listening to famous internet experts. You know financial advice is dogshit when you can't tell it apart from life advice.

Thankfully I didn't listen to some moron who told me to take out my 401k. Now I save my money in the bank until I really know what to do with it.

Nope...the Dow would have to fall much farther than that - and for me to sell afterward - for that to happen.

Took a hit, but it's not too bad. I'll be glad I kept investing small amounts over a long period of time, when everything bounces back.

Focusing on dividends anyways. I make more than just leaving my money in a savings account.

Nope.

Rule #1 of investing: Never invest any money you're afraid to lose.

Yeah, my investments have taken a hit, but it's all retirement money, not something I'm planning on using to buy groceries next week. I'll live.

I'm waiting for S&P 500 to crash back to reality (low 3000's), and then I'll finally start investing in stocks for the first time in my life.

It's been an inflated BS bubble thanks to the Federal Reserve for years now.

(my numerical figure isn't just pulled out of my ass, btw. It was around 3400 before the pandemic hit, it went into a crash for a week, then the Fed pumped billions of dollars in and it took off like a rocket. "Reality" is when it's back around where it left off, and honestly considering the actual economic impact of the pandemic, it probably belongs lower than that)

You don't want to know where my $5k went.

Answer: here. It went here. Don't buy this, it's a scam. They've been peddling the same hype for years. It will split or be delisted. It's being shorted into the ground.

Everything is down, stocks, gold, crypto. Meanwhile, prices keep going up. Right now the only thing that I have that isn't crashing is retired Lego sets that are sealed. I've doubled my money in just 6 to 7 years. No index fund can beat that!

I forgot about those. That rate is really too good to pass up. Hard to believe there's no downside aside from having your money tied up for a year. But since I intend for it to be used for retirement, that's inconsequential. Might have to go for it. I have until October apparently to lock it in at that rate.

You get interest accrued each month, probably. So the later you go in, the less months at the current rate. That said, when they give the new rate in Nov, I doubt it'll be much different, it's not like inflation has changed much lately.
Also apparently if you go in at any point in the month, it's treated as if you had the bonds from the 1st of the month. Which is why I'm trying to decide like right the fuck now, before Sept. is over. Keeping in mind it'd take 1-2 days to process...
Has anyone ever bought bonds from Treasury Direct? How do you make sure they're secure and can't just get stolen by someone? Last time I had bonds, they were paper ones from when I was a kid as a sort of "college fund" from relatives...

I've had money invested for a year a half. That money was basically gone when I invested it. I count it as not existing as of now until I sell.

my previous company IPOd last December. I guess I'm glad they allowed staggered selling lockup periods so I was able to sell 30% before the crash and diversify it better... there was a lockup period for the rest. I have sold a bit more but it's a drastic loss compared to if it were diversified since it's a high growth tech stock (company is fine but eh the market). So I'm a little over leveraged with that still but I'd like to get it back up to what I paid income taxes on before selling the rest :/

but hey I'm not going to complain too much about a windfall even if some wind was taken out of the sails

pump'n'dumps are not ponzi schemes... not all schemes are ponzi

For it to be a ponzi scheme one of the top investors would have to be paying returns using new investors money

They are getting paid by other people buying in and pumping the price.

I profited hard off safemoon but in retrospect I realize it was a scam, and I walked away with someone else's money hard. I was even schumcked into spreading it among my friends.

Nope, I have a 401k but that's being managed by someone else. Plus I don't actually expect to make actual money off of it, just the company matching.
I'm still in the "pay off debts" phase of my finances.
