Oh, so there goes yet another feature people liked them for. And that leaves only whatever number of shows remain before those too are either canceled or take off for greener pastures.

Yeah. I like the binge method. Most of CE prefers the weekly method for whatever reason

I especially like it on days I need to either shave my legs or when I'm doing some gathering on FFXIV that requires lots of timed nodes. Binge a show for a few hours, and then watch more if I'm in the mood after that.

No doubt they've seen people sub, watch full shows every quickly then unsub which makes sense as they seem to be going down hill with what they have to offer especially with so many price increases in the last few years.

Maybe maybe not Personally, I stay subbed because I watch a ton of shows at work. But Ill just wait until full release to watch something I honestly dont think many people who would unsub until they want to watch a show will sub just to watch a show weekly Especially if thats all they want to watch

I know Im in the minority here, but I prefer weekly episode releases. The binge model was cool at first, but I enjoy the discussion and theorizing that comes with weekly releases. I also feel like I pay more attention and retain more if Im only watching one episode of a show in a week as opposed to binging the entire season in a few days.

Netflix has few originals I care about these days though. But I did just watch the latest installment of Chefs Table over the last couple days

Personally, I didnt care much about theories or discussion. I did that with friends while watching something Also, while I pay attention about the same, I retain way less Because I will forget everything if I wait a week instead of a week Plus, if this were to happen to all their shows, Id have to follow. Intolerance shows at the same time. Which would just be kind of shitty, tbh.

That said, you wouldnt be alone Most of CE loved the idea

I do use hair removal cream, which takes time to apply, time to sit to do its thing, and time to remove; and I do so in parts. With a show running that can hold my interest, I might have short breaks between said parts of my legs. It's usually less than a few hours for this particular activity, unlike the timed node gathering in FFXIV, which is where most of that clause had been meant for.

Me too. I enjoy having that hype build up over the course of however many weeks. And reading along with discussions is fun too. Unfortunately not so much with like House of Dragons because there's so many people like "well this is gonna happen 'cause in the book...". But it's fun with the Marvel stuff and I already watch a lot of anime weekly so I'm already here anyway. Netflix themselves kinda did it with Arcane and that was great.

Plus I think I'm more likely to rewatch a show later if the first time I watch it was weekly since I might see new connection and what not that I might not have noticed the first time.

Coming in the future, and what I thought this topic was going to say when I saw the title:

Netflix limits an account to only only many episodes at a time (one per day? 5 per week?), just to force people to keep their accounts for a while if they want to view a whole series.

Bet on it.

According to other users, it might start earlier, since the first episodes should be done. Lets say the original was going to release the second week of December for binge. So, if it was going to end on the second week of December and it had 10 episodes, it would start the first week of October instead or being release the second week of October if weekly instead Of course, theres no proof they would do this Just speculation on the part of people who like weekly. Its possibly they might not start until all episodes are for sure finished

They wouldn't do that because they would lose a massive amount of money from people canceling their subscriptions.

I'm thinking there's no reason to subscribe to Netflix as it is now.

I watched The Expanse on Netflix, they never had the later seasons and now don't have the seasons I had watched.

There's a 4th season of The Sinner, Netflix only has 3 seasons.

I found Curon interesting, now that it's been over a year there's still no 2nd season.

I started watching Katla, half of the dialog is still in a foreign language though it's set for English.

they might also be under some kind of contract to do this their content creators.

I imagine the business side is like :

"if we release this show all it once somenone just needs a month subscription to watch it. If we release weekly than we intice users to get the subscription over several months."

It's actually likely to backfire because alot of people don't subscribe until multiple shows are finished on other platforms (HBO max/disney etc), which netflix usually had full shows release almost every month in the past, which meant many people just kept a subscription going.

It's the only one I ever had for a whole year for instance.

Disney is hit or miss, maybe 1/3 months has something I want to watch. I generally sub for it 2 months out of the year. HBO max I generally sub based on the movies it has (2 times a year or so).

Netflix was at least 6 months out of the year, but I have had it steady for the last year or so, and probably will at least for now. I still have a ton of netflix shows in my backlog, and still watch it more than any other streaming service.

The whole non-binge thing won't really affect me, and neither does the price increase (since it's cheaper than HBO max at least). Main thing that will is if they stop having good shows come out, but even then, it's gonna be awhile till I get through the backlog (probably at least a year). They also already have a bunch of upcoming shows I'm looking forward to, so yeah, I won't be going anywhere soon.

Yeah, but for those of us that binge and unsubscribe, we get screwed. I had the first 4 episodes of Obiwan spoiled for me because I didn't subscribe until episode 5 came out.

I assume most streaming services mainly only care about front-loading the first few episodes, because it's more important getting you in the door than it is keeping you there. Which is why so many overhyped streaming original series these days seem to have really strong starts and then trail off into bullshit and nonsense.

If anything, that might be why a weekly release schedule might be better for streaming services in general. Because then it will take you a few weeks to figure out that the show you're watching is actually shit rather than just a few hours.
