Movies with plots that happen in the same universe of other things thats not directly related tot he story. Hell even mini series would be cool.

I mean the big one that gets floated around a little in memes was the Purge movies, like what happens AFTER the purge.

But theres some interesting things out there too like maybe a meteor story about people not actively trying to safe the day. Or the story of people recovering of the stupid stuff they did when they thought the earth was gonna be destroyed.

I think theres a lot of good stories there and I am surprised they aren't tapped into more.

The Conjuring had like an 8 movie universe where every movie is connected.

The planned Dark WB universe was almost a thing with Tom Cruise's The Mummy reboot supposed to kick things off.

There is also the Bill Cipher cameos across several animated series, but that's more an Easter egg than a shared universe.

Maybe the Hallmark Channel and all the Christmas movies that take place in white bred, small town USA (but actually shot in Southern Ontario) could even apply broadly to rom coms in general, really.

There was a plan to make a second and possibly a third. The creator finally came out and said he just didnt have time and couldnt find the material to do it right.

That opening scene on the hill is still one of the funniest things Ive ever seen and the entire theatre was laughing their asses off.

Studios dont want to risk investing in making cinematic universes unless they know it will make them money, hence why its only major properties that get it. And even then, I feel studios are less likely to try nowadays after the string of high cost cinematic universe start up failures weve seen in recent years

Network TV does tend to mould their shows so they are part of an interconnected universe so they can do crossover promotional episode. Season premier of the Law and Order's this season is going to be a three hour event dealing with a single case.

law and order is part of the sesame street universe... not even kidding

Stephen Kings books and movies all take place within the same universe although the movie would need to be continued and book series that connects them all couldve been less inconsistent.
specifically the man in black aka Randall flag has been the most obvious outside of Easter eggs.

Predator and aliens also Arguably share the same universe as does Jason voorhees and Freddy Kruger.

but horror and monster movies tend to more often than not be one off cross overs like the monster movies of old.

The problem isn't a shared universe, as much as directors not doing it right, and often putting the cart before the horse. If they did it right for this,that, or the other I'd be down.

A five movie series based on someone's D&D campaign isn't really a cinematic universe, because it doesn't actually tie into anything outside of itself.

If you have enough movies that relate to each other to have a cinematic universe, you've pretty much already established yourself as a large franchise.

Technically the Scream series is in the View Askewaverse.

I remember hearing that Hasbro was considering an LA shared universe. The closest I could think of that would mesh well, would be Transformers, G.I. Joe, M.A.S.K, COPS, and maybe Inhumanoids. (I've never seen a full episode of Inhumanoids but it looks cool.) It's a shame Hasbro sucks at making live action films.

Eh? I mean I guess I can see how it's just a meme. I don't think it would go anywhere given that the premise of the purge doesn't make any sense in the first place. It's a setting to random killing, but then trying to imagine it as a functional society? I can't do it.

And thats what the movie would be about. Imagine working with the woman that killed your wife during the Purge. Or working with a guy that you knew for a fact killed an entire family.
