Cost of goods has significantly rised over the past year. Have you been compensated financially by your employer?

I was given a 6% raise (like twice the normal raise) to compensate for inflation.

Obviously its not enough for that, but at least it's something.

We got our first raise in 9 years in June. It was 0.5%. It's terrible.

Yes, but only because I left and came back. I got about a 25% raise.

I think I get small raises every year Wish I got more, though

I got a fairly big raise but mainly due to being promoted. Probably should be more with inflation but I can't complain too much

I reached my pay cap about two years ago. They are considering an increase to the pay cap, but until then I am stuck. The best they do is a few minor perks. They started paying half my phone bill, and internet.

I got a huge raise in pay by moving companies.

I work for the government so my annual raise is based off whatever they decide. Better be more than 2.4 fucking percent this January, though.

The performance bonuses make up for the difference at least.

Mine increased about 12.5%.

Most of my coworkers have not seen a raise in 3-4 years.

Should compensate us for using our own phones for sending work related pics and texting etc.

They gave me a 24% raise out of the blue a few months back. From what I can tell, only the more experienced engineers got it. I think they were worried about us getting poached by other firms.

we got several new projects in the past year so they did increase our wages but the inflation was obviously not factored before or after this

They see what other businesses in the area are paying and adjust accordingly on a yearly basis. Didnt get anything last year and they're holding off this year

When asked about raises we're told to look for advancement within the company

I got a 2% raise at the start of the year, which was fantastic because I'd only been working there for like 4-1/2 months. I don't know if everybody gets a raise each year or if I'd gotten one because I'd done such a great job or what.

Working for the government, I get annual raises until I hit the highest pay level for my classification, and I've still got a ways to go before then, so kind of. The collective agreement also gets renegotiated periodically with the intent of catching up with inflation, which results in occasional increases to all position salaries that include some amount of backpay, so I expect I'll probably get something from that in the next year or two.

have you contributed more than you were before to justify an increase?

your employer is not your welfare agent. You get paid based on what you contribute. Inflation is an outside factor that has nothing to do with your employer.

maybe to make yourself more money you make yourself more productive to deserve more money cause you create more value in yourself.

I just switched jobs and my income went down like 75%, so dunno probably not. Salary seemed on the higher end for the market here tho.

I love when employers end up eating shit because they refuse to make sure their employees can survive. It occasionally happens. As am employer, you have an obligation to make sure your employees can survive. If you can't afford to pay your employees, you don't any business running... well, a business

Public servant so not really.

It usually goes like this with public servant jobs:

1. Moronic government employees give themselves more benefits and bigger increases despite holding the easiest jobs which are basically the equivalent of overpaid desk clerks.
2. Tell every other public servants that there is no money, to fuck off and spend less.

Imagine the owner of a trucking company standing in front of one of their trucks, saying what you just said because the truck stopped working after they tried to drive it 400 miles after paying as much for diesel as they would have paid to drive 400 miles a year ago. Kind of stupid, no?

The cost a human must pay to live is the cost of employing a human to do a job for you. Period. Employing a human without paying them enough to survive is logically no different from trying to drive a car without putting enough gas into it.

Does it suck to have to pay somebody more without them creating more value? Of course. But that's just the nature of the beast that is inflation. You're not special. You don't deserve a free pass from the cost increases everyone else has to deal with. And you especially shouldn't be blaming that cost increase on people that are just trying to survive instead of on the handful of elites that arbitrarily decided to make everything more expensive for personal gain (remember, if a company claims record profits but then turns around and says they need to increase prices to "combat inflation," they aren't "combating inflation," they are inflation).
