The Wal Mart is only a half a mile from my house. Been hearing a plane flying and diving overhead for a couple of hours now. Freaky stuff.

They need to jump at the chance to use the publicity.

My city is full of idiots. I don't know how some have even made it to adulthood.

Love those stupid actions where there is like 0 chance of escape if the plan is not to go thru with it and die.

I imagine a crackhead that stole it without thinking about having to land it, and this would be his best chance at getting someone to coach him thru so he doesnt die.

But realistically its probably just an idiot that had a vendetta against walmart and thought this would be a good way to get back at the dog ugly cashier that turned him down and that was the last straw.

So far plane is still in air and has moved towards Blue Springs which is just north of us. There's a big Toyota plant there. Apparently the pilot was an employee of our local airport and stole the plane.

Thanks. I clicked the airport and got a live tracker. This guy got pretty close to another plane...well at least radar wise. Hope it wasn't trying to intentionally crash into it, but then again they could have been miles apart anyway.

He's been flying around in circles mostly. He's been hovering around Ripley airport so hopefully he might give up and land.

You need to know how to fly a plane in the first place, so it cuts down the number of people who are even capable of doing it

Uh.... get further away from that Walmart? If that's where he plans to crash, he could easily miss his target by a half mile or more, I'm sure.

Officials are now saying that the pilot of the plane is not an employee of the Tupelo Regional Airport, but may work for a Fixed Based Operator that leases space the Tupelo airport.

So I guess an employee stole a private plane? Or some third party workers?

Not like my opinion carries any weight, since I dont know the pilot and his current thought process, but I think that since he didnt do it right away, the odds of him doing it diminishes with each passing minute.

He went up there with a plan, but seemingly has had second thoughts, either as a change of conscience due to innocent lives, or a reconsideration of killing himself in the process. He is likely just frightened now about the ramifications of what he has done, and is prolonging the inevitable (which is either he crashes, or he lands the plane and gets arrested).

If the plane runs out of fuel, he can still glide the plane down for a landing. And it will be less dangerous if he has the ability do so safely, since there would be considerably less fuel in the plane, should it actually crash in the process, so hopefully that is how it plays out. He runs out of fuel, does a crash landing safely, and nobody gets hurt.

Multiple sources have confirmed the plane is down in Ashland. The pilot, Cory Patterson, is alive. The status of the plane is unknown.

There's probably a laundry list of charges. If he lands it safely, they may take a plea for less time. Still going to be quite a few years though.

How reliable is that tracking site?

If it were like the actual ATC radar, I'd presume crash but I don't know the accuracy of that tracker's data.

In this day and age it's at least 20 years minimum for both of the counts, America hasn't played around with terrorism involving planes since 2000 if even that.
