I used a $5 dollar bill to purchase a bottle of coke and the machine never returned my $3.50 change and this has happened quite a few times not only to me but to other people who work with me.

When it happens, we have to fill out a ticket to submit to the vending machine company with the date, time, product we bought, price and the amount of change due back and every time these people take their sweet time returning your money and often they try to substitute real money with something they call "Vendor Bucks" which is nothing but paper with their logo on it to be used in their machines.

When I worked in a machine shop, any time the vending machine stiffed someone we would just crack the thing open and take the money out or grab the item that got stuck in the machine.

Basically, don't put a vending machine in a place that has every kind of tool imaginable.

you can just pop the lock with a simple wave rake attack

they aren't really designed to stop someone from getting in if they want to

Do vending machines still kill people by tipping over onto them?

We have a couple vending machines at mu old job that stole our money. They was also this one that was kind of hard to open. And many people accidentally popped it open only to have close immediately. And they didnt get their food. When they happen, luckily, the cashier would either give us the money or stole back, or give us the money to get our product out And then, the ticket would be used for them to get the cashier money back That was probably one of the few good things about that place

Whats a machine shop?

A shop that does machine work.

Depending on the context, it could be a shop where they machine car parts, like grindind down rotors and flywheels, shaving engine heads, cleaning pistons, and so on. Or it could be a shop that machines out metal for other projects, like HVAC or certain types of manufacturing.

The key point is that machine shops tend to have a metric shitload of different types of tools, all of which can be used to break into vending machines.

Reminds me of an old friend named T. We worked together at Circuit City as salesmen. He was in home theatre and I was in computers. We became friends because of an Amway team we formed. We went to malls together and did lots of shit. He was a civilized dude like me, but he had some raw reactions to shit that kinda shocked me.

Anywho, this was sometime in 2001 and I was going to Dr. Sethi or however you spell his name in Charlotte. He's a psychiatrist that I followed up with after my weekly psych visits. The building of his office looks like this.

Now, as you can see the area is a nice place. T and his girl's apartment was nice too. They lived in a nice area. But still... T is gonna T.

So inside this building is really nice. It has a nice lobby and you have to use the elevator to get to the Dr. area. As we were leaving after an hour of being there, he went to use the vending machine and it robbed him. My man straight up waylaid the front panel and took 3 or 4 choice items. You can imagine me trying to calm him down and move on. We left and to me it was a big deal. To him, he never gave it a second thought. He was a good guy though. I hope he's doing ok in 2022.
