Just saw a tweet asking Californians to keep A/C to 78. That is absolutely insane to me. I keep mine from 70-72.

I have a garbage landlord that insists my central AC works despite it obviously not doing so, so I just have a window unit AC that I run until I get cold.

I don't keep it set at anything cause I don't have a real thermostat.

Whenever it gets too hot (about 78F+) I'll turn the AC on (set for like 5C cause the fucking thing is set in Celsius) until it gets too cold (about 69F) then I turn it off manually.

It takes fucking all night to even drop like 5 degrees

And this is all year because my room will get that hot even with the heat off and it being freezing outside

77 to 79 in the summer. Anything below 76, and I start freezing. I was born in the tropics though, so that might have something to do with it.

70 to 72 in the winter. I have more clothes on then.

In the summer, I lower it to about 65-68 before I go to bed. It's preference, but there's also science behind sleeping in a chillier environment. I keep it on AC but just let it heat up to 70-72 naturally in the morning. Sometimes a degree chillier or hotter throughout the day, but not usually more than that.

I believe I reads somewhere that 78 is the most efficient/economical temperature to keep your AC at during hot weather. But that's too hot for me! But then again I just make it hotter outside by making such a stark difference between indoors and outdoors. But then again again, hot is hot, it's not like living a naturalistic caveman lifestyle makes you impervious to hot weather.

don't have one. Keep AC unit set at 70 when in use (also use a fan). In winter, I keep heat at low to medium setting most of the time and turn off before bed unless it's super cold (like 10F or lower outside)

I'm honestly more concerned about keeping humidity under 60% so that can result in a range between 72-80 degrees depending on the weather that day.

When humidity isn't an issue and I'm using heat I try to keep it in the high 60s during the day, and low 60s when I'm asleep or out.

It wont make a difference but the government has no place telling us what to do if theyre gonna leave us to foot the bill. People would be more willing to listen if they didnt have that bill every month. Theres a tendency to think I paid for it Ill have it have it how I want.

Its like how theyre pushing people to EVs through tax incentives.

Besides that I just feel theyd do a better job managing it eventually. People are already seeing blackouts as is.

70 in summer. like 66 in winter.

this summer when i leave for work in the morning i'll set the AC to like 78. then when i get home i turn it down to 70 and it'll take a few hours to cool down. like it's been running about 2.5 hours and it was 77 when i got home and it's still going but it's 70/71 now and should kick off soon. then i'll turn it off for a few hours till i go to bed and then turn it back on so it's cold while i sleep.

I think I went with 68 during the winter? I can't remember.
