rwlh 08/31/22 4:45:54 PM #1:	Arguments for Wario: he's consistently in the heavy class of Mario universe characters, alongside DK he has a wide variety of moves and powersets to pull from, some of which give him extra damage and mobility if he sees DK's banana hoard, he's going to want it too, and nothing motivates Wario more than greed! Arguments for DK: he won narrowly against Bowser in an earlier topic...would you take Wario > Bowser? Maybe you would! he's in the heavyweight class too, sure, but he seems to be ranked a bit higher on the scale than Wario if DK shoots Wario, it's gonna hurt Last topic DK made puny human go smush, as he's got a habit of doing; no amount of Max's time rewind was enough to overcome the power deficit. Today, a potentially more interesting match. These two are part of the same metaseries and are frequently in the same weight class; they're former antagonists to Mario who've gone on to star in successful spinoff series; and they, at least to some extent, are motivated by greed! But as far as I know, they've never faced each other directly in combat...so let's fix that. Who wins this clash of the Mario heavyweights? Like if Wario charged DK on his motorbike he'd probably get punched off of it, a one-hit KO. Kamekguy 08/31/22 5:14:36 PM #4:	Wario has the better strength feat against a living opponent - Dino Mighty from Wario World's a good deal larger than the biggest baddy DK's tossed around with his bare hands, that being the Ghastly King from Jungle Beat. He's also very much more durable, even taking pure indestructibility out of it, he tried to blow himself up and just sort of mildly inconvenienced himself. https://youtu.be/_g-NLYOSPjk However, the issue is that Wario... kind of sucks as a fighter? Like he's a fantastic wallbreaker, you put him up against an armored knight and he takes the sword to the face, then punches them into next week. But from a technical sense, Wario is a pure street brawler who relies on being able to take a hit in order to land an even better one. DK... is gonna land the better hit from a pure force perspective, enough to blow Wario away more likely than not. The question is less "can DK beat Wario" and is more "can DK hit Wario away enough times that Wario gets bored and leaves?" Because Wario doesn't really have a super to close this out with - the waft only really has Smash to go off of, Wario-Man's greatest actual feat is losing to a steam train, and in general Wario is a "throw the magic back at the genie/clown-god/ancient spirit" kind of guy. I think DK would eventually defeat Wario via forfeit. But if it comes to "they fight to the death in an enclosed arena that neither of them can break", then nah, Wario wins via simply being too stubborn to kill with blunt force. He can catch DK's barrels and coconuts back at him (or eat them and charge a super waft that way) I think Wario wins regardless. While DK packs more punch Wario is no slouch himself and is more durable than DK, and Wario can eat random stuff to recover energy like coconuts and barrels during the fight. Wario is also the smarter, or at least the more crafty of the two and is more willing to fight dirty than DK. And has more tools at his disposable like the hats from Wario Land 1/Virtual Boy and transformations from Land 2/3/4, the disguises from Master of Disguise. Also fun fact in the original pitch for Donkey Kong Country Wario was going to be the main villain before they made King K. That's gonna run through most of Wario's lose-in-a-hit power-ups in short order. Even his projectile power-ups are pretty short range.
