I've got some bad news...that Pokemon isn't the same one...it has been rewritten many times in different memory cells over the course of the game. Dropping a starter at the daycare is silly though, because they are stronger than nearly every early game Pokemon. Breeding for stats with a Ditto is good though, and probably one of the most common things people do.
