I was being kind of cheeky about the F tier line. But do people actually not evolve their Pokemon in the games?

Well this isn't the anime, they are just 1's and 0's. Your Pokemon isn't any different than another one (stats aside). It's one thing to be sentimental over a physical object, but with digital data? I've got some bad news...that Pokemon isn't the same one...it has been rewritten many times in different memory cells over the course of the game. Dropping a starter at the daycare is silly though, because they are stronger than nearly every early game Pokemon. Breeding for stats with a Ditto is good though, and probably one of the most common things people do. The online mystery trade is proof of that, where most of the stuff you get are unwanted tourney tier Pokemon and starters that didn't make the cut.
