Seems normal to me. I've been a gamer most of my life and I don't think I've played 500. 500 is a lot. You can get through your all time favorite in about 25. What after that is moderate to good? Half? What's the rest? Blah?

Shit, I'm surprised I remember half the shit I played. I saw some guy playing Blood Omen and I didn't recognize most of it fast forwarding it and yet I know I beat it twice. All the Jedi Knight and Kotor games. I played them to death and when I watch the footage today it seems alien. Some parts I remember exactly and others feel like i never did them. But I know I did.

All the Zelda games for example. Other than Oracles of Ages and Seasons and Link's Awakening, I hardly remember any of the portable ones. And I loved the DS one. I loved Wind Waker way more than OoT and I don't remember shit about it.

I think with how many options we all have now the average player is more likely to blow through games to try out than ever before.

In the OLD DAYS I'd have to suffer through some of the bad NES picks I bought like Heroes of the Lance or Magmax because the option to have Steam where you can buy so many games for relatively cheap didn't exist yet. Now though if a game (on Steam) looks okay and it's on heavy sale I'll get it, give it a shot, and if it's not all that hot I'll just move onto something else.

Blood Omen

WOW blast from the past! That's the first Legacy of Kain game for the PS1, right?
They should've called it Blood Loading, Jesus have a loading screen or two (thousand)

Good game but man that was so sloggy to play because of it.

Yeah I even remember how I got the game. My friend Eric got it, but it proved to be too brainy for him. He was more into Tekken. I got it in trade for Warhawk because I had beaten it twice. Got Warhawk for Christmas the year before. He wasn't gonna take anything in trade, but I couldn't stomach not giving him something for it. Besides, there was a demo disc with warhawk on it if I wanted to blow shit up again. 1 stage, but still nice.

After I beat it, didn't play it again until after I beat Soul Reaver years later. It was right after high school, my friend Jon had gotten it and at first I was skeptical because I wanted Kain and bloodsucking back. Kain being the bad guy pissed me off. Even though he wasn't really a good guy before lol.

But I broke down and got it and loved it. Those were cool games.

And still, I can go on YouTube now in 2022 and watch someone play it, fast forward through to different parts and it barely retains a memory at all.

My Steam library is 7644 visible, and 8644 total (the rest being delisted games and such that don't show in the profile list).

I am over 1200 now. I want to say I have been buying games on Steam since 2009 or 2010. Can't remember exactly when. I know the first game I bought was Doom 3 + Resurrection of Evil.

That was before I even had a Windows gaming PC, I was using Steam through Wine then downloading a Linux source port to play it.

It is not that I never intend to play them, just that I don't intend to play them at the time I am buying them. Most of them are bundles that contain one game that I want to play, and come with another 8-10 games with it. 90% of my library are games I didn't know I was getting when I bought something else, or just showed up in my library due to Steam combining bundles of games together over the years.

Plus it is nice to be like "I am in the mood to play X, let me check my library and...cool, I already own it!"

I'm pretty stable in the 350-400 range. In my early days of using Steam, I'd pretty frequently buy games in which I was interested but had no immediate plans to play just because they were discounted by what I thought was a good amount. Over time, my standards for "a good deal" have risen quite a bit and my backlog has grown to the point that I've mostly stopped buying games unless it's either such a good deal that I don't expect to ever see it that cheap again (usually because it's in a bundle) or it's one that I'm really interested in and do intend to play in the foreseeable future. That means my library has mostly stagnated before hitting 500.

It makes some amount of sense to me that most people experiencing the same progression of standards would end up in the 100-500 range. It really doesn't take very long at all to rack up 100 Steam games if you go in with the attitude of "That's a good price for something I've been meaning to pick up," especially when bundles get thrown into the mix, but I'd expect that enthusiasm to be tempered somewhat before the 500 mark, at which point library growth slows down dramatically.

Hey howd you check that?

Still $14 grand is nothing to sneeze at. I wonder if you added up all the $60 and $70 NES, SNES I mean even Atari games were kind of pricey sometimes.. I mustve spent thousands easy too.

@Black_Crusher

In the client, click Help > Steam Support
From the menu this brings up, click My Account > Data Related to Your Steam Account > External Funds Used.

Depending how recently you spent money, TotalSpend might not be viewable. Typically shows up again a few days after your most recent purchase.
