He was a good president.

Decent. Not great.

He was a good president for the most part, obviously flawed but that's true of all the presidents, or any "good" world leader in general throughout all time

I'm probably overlooking something, but he was the last president who had to contest with a foreign power on equal terms, and we're still alive. So, probably good.

Seemed pretty good overall, admittedly I haven't researching his presidency a lot...
Navigated us thru some tense nuclear standoffs that could've led to the end of humanity, got the space race kicked off which led to all kinds of discoveries and achievements, seemed pretty popular....
I don't consider him one of the best presidents, but definitely in the top 50%. Which isn't a tough bar to clear, considering how many shit bag presidents we've had.

He was a shitbag with good PR. JFK was responsible for the ramp-up and heavily military commitment to Vietnam.

And he may or may not have killed Marilyn Monroe (or had it done on his behalf)

Avoided starting the nuclear holocaust/10 is my rating. His biggest blunder was going against his better judgement and listening to his military advisors with the Bay of Pigs. He learned from that, and when his advisors were getting hawkish about the Missile Crisis, he went with his gut and managed to find a peaceful solution.

I always hated that line regardless. You don't owe any person nor country anything. It's like the say. You don't owe any company you work for, and the same applies to anything or anyone else because at the end of the day, you are all that you have to function as a individual. If you're not enough with it. You'll never be enough without it.

I'm not familiar with JFK but I'm assuming he's basically saying don't sit around all day begging the government for hand outs and doing jack fuck all, and instead work on figuring out a way to help the people of your country, even if that means coming up with ways of giving free government handouts. XD

That's literally not what that meant. In fact, it couldn't be further from what he was talking about. JFK was advocating service to government, not service to oneself. He was a statist and -- contrary to your piss-poor understanding -- an advocate for welfare programs. In fact, he massively expanded welfare. I mean, jfc, dude...

LBJ is a major reason why the US fell behind the rest of the world, but he's liked for his social welfare programs, etc. He's less well-liked for his foreign policy, which was generally disastrous in a more direct and obvious way.

Basically, the US had a massive advantage over the rest of the world coming out of WWII because our infrastructure was in better shape. A few presidents later, and that particular advantage was quickly gone. And the overhauls in education from LBJ is a large reason why the public schools are such a mess, and his government-backed college loan program is directly responsible for the college debt crisis and the decline in college standards.

LBJ was a major player in just about every government entitlement. Most of the "scholars" are university professors, etc, who rely on government money, so they tend to rank him favorably. Generally, anybody who grows government they tend to rank favorably.

I wasn't around when he was president but he had held meetings with Martin Luther King in regards to discussing the Voting and Civil Rights Acts and he was anti Vietnam and those two things did not sit well with the White power structure especially defense contractors.

The only good US president is a dead US president, so in that sense, JFK was ahead of the game. May all other world leaders follow his example.
