It's primarily to get AOE and cleave units into CB. Multi-target attacks hit all targets on the boss, and will generally do more damage. Additionally, after taking a certain amount of damage on each target, that target "breaks", and once all targets are broken the boss enters a vulnerable period for a time IIRC where their defenses are lowered (it might also be lower defenses for each target broken, need to double-check). I believe ST units target the closest non-broken target. I'm actually not sure how multi-target bosses interact with S!Makoto, since it should still be considered 1 enemy, but that's what trials are for. We've had a few multi-target bosses in the past: the last time we fought pigs in the CB was MT, and the Re:Zero event boss was multi-target. Probably gonna be a while before I can actually deploy her though, most of my oil's going to Kaga/Akagi farming, so can't afford to send her on those 1,000 oil for large chunks of exp commissions.
