I just feel like the features that you get with a smart watch are so great that I genuinely never take it off (except to sleep or shower). Normal watches are cool, but I use the apps daily.

Yes. I like watches, $300 is a pretty low end for an analog. I don't have anything super fancy, but I have a Tag Aquaracer that cost about $1200, and I think it's a pretty awesome watch. That's as high as I've been willing to go so far. If I ever became a millionaire though I'd probably get an AP.

If it was something like a Rolex, an heirloom piece, then possibly. But honestly I don't wear watches so I probably wouldn't even spend 10 bucks on one.

Another thing I hate about men's watches is that they're huge. I have small wrists. They look absolutely dumb on me. Why don't they make small watches for men. Do we really need a huge fucking thing just because we're male?

You can get a decent Seiko at $300, but any watch at this price point isn't gonna be a piece you can pass down to family. Also at $300 you might as well get a replica of a high end watch considering how insane the replica market is with new technology that they can beat $300 genuine watches.

They do, you just have to look for the sizes. I have a small wrist as well so I typically go for 38-40mm

I don't know but I always preferred women's watches. Even on big wrists men's watches often look bulky and uncomfortable

are you also really into watches? i don't agree with much of your post. You can get a decent quartz or solar watch with sapphire crystal and all stainless steel, for that much. And that's exactly what a rolex or omega is stainless st. and saphire crystal. Imo you could pass it down to family.

It was a $420 nixon I bought back in 2012. It looks nice, but grew out of the style and it was quite heavy. Not that I really needed the money, but just saw it as cash laying around in my house. Im a bit of a minimalist, dont like to have so much stuff laying around. Makes moving easier as well

With sales tax both my Citizen Omega and Eco Drive cost that much.

But I take care of things and the first one lasted fifteen years. The Eco Drive will probably last me for the rest of my life if properly cared for.

Easily. Have 4 or 5 already and those are daily wear watches. $300 is dumb cheap if you are into watches. I have a king Seiko I got second hand with all original papers that I paid $4500 for. Currently that is my nice dress watch.

Have and plan to do so again.
For sure you should never buy it for anyone else's opinions, but sometimes it starts an interesting conversation. The best part is it's so tangible and subjective. Someone's $20 shelf Casio is as interesting as someone else's $x,xxx Omega because of the practice to wear it regularly, and more so in a time there they're arguably less necessary to own when you're inside a 1st world society.

It's sometimes a bit of a "fidget" thing - to spin the dial, wind the movement, run the chronograph. Even just see that it's working. Regardless of movement, it's a mechanical/electrical feat. In respect to time, a smart watch tells it to you, a traditional watch measures it. After the sun, this was the only way to know the time and how much actually passed. Of the things considered luxuries in society, a mechanical watch is of the most substantial imo.
