I don't have anything super fancy, but I have a Tag Aquaracer that cost about $1200, and I think it's a pretty awesome watch. That's as high as I've been willing to go so far. The best part is it's so tangible and subjective. Someone's $20 shelf Casio is as interesting as someone else's $x,xxx Omega because of the practice to wear it regularly, and more so in a time there they're arguably less necessary to own when you're inside a 1st world society. It's sometimes a bit of a "fidget" thing - to spin the dial, wind the movement, run the chronograph. Even just see that it's working. Regardless of movement, it's a mechanical/electrical feat. In respect to time, a smart watch tells it to you, a traditional watch measures it. After the sun, this was the only way to know the time and how much actually passed.
