Board 8 > Best New Character 2007 [NOMINATIONS]

And it's back! That time of year again, we're halfway through this year, so while it's still too early to celebrate 2022's characters, we can continue our trend backwards through the years prior.

The character must have premiered in the year of the contest (2007), though there are exceptions.

• Characters who previously premiered in literature or comics are eligible based on their film/tv/game appearances.
• Characters who previously premiered in media appearances may be considered new if the interpretation of the character is new (ex. Gotham's "Batman" characters) but only that particular version of the character is eligible.
• Characters will typically go by their American release date (though it gets tricky in some cases; as long as they haven't been nominated in the previous years I'm not gonna fuss one way or the other).

Yeah, those rules are always gonna have some detractors (and I'll admit that it's not a perfect rule) but we're [insert number] years in now so let's just roll with it.

• Each user gets 10 nominations every 24 hours.
• Please specify what each nomination is from
• 3 nominations will guarantee a character gets in
• More than 3 nominations will get the characters higher seeding
• First 64 characters with 3 or more will make it in.

Question about Sam (Trick 'r Treat) - he technically made his debut in Season's Greetings in 1996 but he's FAR more well known for the film obviously and pretty much the only reason people even know Season's Greetings is because of the film. Could he be eligible for this year?

The rule is in place moreso for the modern years, where a game/show/etc might be basically unknown the year it releases in Japan (or elsewhere, but it's usually Japan) but gets popular the next year upon American release, so that they get a fair chance in the contest

Yep, you're completely right. In fact three different characters from No More Heroes made last year's bracket (him, Bad Girl and Slyvia). That's a slipup on my part. Anyone who nominated Travis this year can feel free to get in a replacement nomination

that was a case of the game coming out at the very end of 2007 in Japan and 2008 in the rest of the world
