Don't forget to hunt down will seeds, those can give you just enough SP to keep going if you're running low. I actually managed to clear the first palace in one day thanks to those things.

One thing I would think vanilla is better, is the beginning. It is so so much harder early on trying to one shot palaces with how limited SP is, and bullets do not recover after battle.

Yeah it never made sense to me that guns didn't reload in vanilla. The entire reason fake guns work in the Metaverse in the first place is that they're so realistic that enemies think they're real, so why shouldn't that same logic apply to a new set of enemies thinking you have a loaded gun?

Were guns better in the original or something? Other than making certain enemies who have guns as a weakness a total joke they don't seem that overpowered.

Easier you mean. In vanilla you had to conserve your ammo. Now you can spam your guns in battle, which makes conserving sp so much easier not to mention the sp regen in palaces.

Easier doesnt mean worse. It was an insanely common complaint and the change was highly praised.

It does vastly lower the difficulty of one shotting the palaces. Rather have to carry limited magazines than just full recovery after battle.

Well youre in a tiny minority that preferred it that way, also as posted earlier it didnt even make any sense.

Or they could have done the more fun method as I said, give us limited magazines that you can upgrade.

Guns don't really seem good enough to warrant being a limited resource.

The problem with making anything in a JRPG a limited resource is the habit of worrying you'll waste them.

Like mentioned earlier the guns are props anyway. It makes no sense for them to need magazines.

They give an explanation for that.

The guns aren't real but the enemies think they are. So their cognition makes them real for that battle but as a result they also have the standard ammo limits that would apply.

Because each battle is with a new enemy that cognition resets so the ammo limit resets as well.

Guns had a higher max ammo in the original game. However, it wasn't that much more than the ammo you get for each fight in Royal.

Also, after the first palace guns aren't really that useful unless you are fighting enemies weak to guns.

Managed to defeat Shadow Kamoshida. It was a fairly simple battle, but I did have to restart two times. The first time after derping and not knowing to block, and the second time getting hit by the second volleyball and my team wiping out after Morgana decided to heal himself over finishing off Shiho. But it was a fun battle. And I forgot to use my guns at the start of the battle on the third time, so I had them at the end when I was able to deal massive damage. Now that I feel like Im past the beginner section of the game, perhaps my days wont just be auto run and I will have more choices.

Once you get to the end of the palace you won't (can't) fight the boss straight away, so if you think you can manage to just get there without stocking up then you should.

Is this how every dungeon works?

As you get further into the game and start having more options for the social links, personally I would recommend you use a guide to see which ones give which perks, and what the best dialogue options are to progress with them. Youll expose yourself to spoilers on who the characters are but its not that big of a deal. What is a big deal is how some really game-changing perks are hidden behind social links and theres no way to know about them if you dont just look it up.

I did the first time. I figured you had to get the seeds in order to progress.

Yes. The boss fight is always done on its own day. So don't worry about having no SP for a major boss fight when pushing through a dungeon.

To a large extent, yeah that's correct

Just as an example of a game-changing perk hidden behind a social link - changing party members mid-battle. I had gotten kinda far into the game wondering why I couldnt do that, until I finally looked up the social link perks and saw it was one that I hadnt put much time into.

Just as an example of a game-changing perk hidden behind a social link - changing party members mid-battle. I had gotten kinda far into the game wondering why I couldnt do that, until I finally looked up the social link perks and saw it was one that I hadnt put much time into.

I ended up finding a guide, although my phone doesn't have adblock so I'm not sure how intrusive it will be. There's one on GameFAQs but it's kind of unorganized.

I might just organize everything myself in MS Word and print it out.

Nope. Always try to use that time to either increase a stat or hang out with someone when possible.

On days you go to the dungeon you'll be too tired to go out at night (until you max a relationship with a certain confidant) but usually you're still able to study, read, watch a DVD etc.

Oh remember to check shops for stuff like a DVD player too. The second hand shop near the cafe should get one soon if they haven't already. Then you can rent movies to increase stats on quiet nights.

Always do something before using the bed to sleep (unless the game stops you, which it does sometimes). Right now it'll be studying but as you progress more options open up to you

I spent a few days raising my skills. My Guts is at level 2 now. Trying to get Kindness up to level 2 as well so I can raise my ranking with Ann. I was watering my plant and did a few other things to gain some experience, but I'm not at level 2 yet.

I noticed this and bought one. I watched that Wraith DVD but I forgot what it raised. Maybe Kindness? I also watched a movie at the theater and it gave me a bunch of Guts experience.

All I'll say is that there's a medical trial waiting for you.

There is also an option to let the AI control all other party members if you really want to do that. However, I don't think the game is really designed around it so doing so may make the game hard, but not a good way.

I like how the game is set up now. I control the main 3 and Morgana is like an assist. He tends to heal me a lot as well.

I raised my Guts but I may still need to raise it some more. Not sure. Shes definitely my favorite so far. I always go after the emo / punk girls in games like this.

Spent a few more days leveling my skills up. Got Kindness to level 2 and now I'm working on charm / knowledge.

Does the movie theater choose a random movie every day? Or can I ever choose to pick a movie? And can I ever do these activities with someone?

I also got to where Kamoshida confesses everything. Glad that story finally ended and can hopefully do some more grinding. I'm spending too much money on stuff and need to increase my funds. I also decided to not keep the money and take everyone out to dinner before school starts again. Hope that was the right choice.

Now I'm just waiting for the next opportunity to raise my ranking with Ann after I raised my kindness to level 2.

Does the game get any harder? Just beat the first palace and not come close to dying to the point anything outside of just rushing through battles ASAP is boring and seems pointless.

No, its pretty easy going from here, if you want a challenge change it to hard or merciless

I'm generally an easy mode gamer and P5R is one of the few games I played and enjoyed on hard mode

I dont think this is the type of game that needs to be difficult. The battles are fun and I enjoy grinding, but theres a lot more to it than that.

I named my team The Avengers. It fit and it seemed fitting. Lady Ann is now rank 2. And I also unlocked Mementos. Im glad something like that exists so I can start occasionally grinding for extra money. Whats money called in this game anyway?

You'll also get missions in Mementos to defeat minibosses, so expect to visit regularly. Usually it's a good idea to "save up" the missions and carry out multiple in one Mementos trip

The same amount of time passes in Mementos per visit no matter how long you spend there. The same is also true for palaces btw

Havent been able to play much. I wanted to play today but didnt have time. Hopefully this weekend Ill be able to get a few hours in.

I dont understand the time limit in palaces yet, but Im sure itll make more sense after I do a few memento runs.

There is no time limit. When Persona mentions 'time passing' it's just saying you're going to spend your afternoon or evening on that activity and it'll progress.

In a Palace or Mementos time doesn't pass until you leave. That's considered as using up your afternoon.

The time limits in palaces refer to calendar days you have to finish the palace, not hours passed while in the palace

Okay good. Thats what I figured.

Met the councilor guy. He seems like hell be useful if his skills help me get over ailments while in a dungeon.

So the next palace is a museum. Hmm. Im not convinced who the villain of this palace is yet, but that might just be the good writing. Im leaning towards it being Yusuke, but Im probably wrong and it is that old man, and Yusuke is just being manipulated.

The next thing I need to focus on is getting a Lovers persona in my arcana.

The box art/dashboard icon should be a giveaway.
