Not sure if Nicky is the best character on the show at this point, but he's close. His journey for personal redemption is the most compelling arc right now.

Xenoblade 2 chapter 3 beated.

Really liked this chapter. I'm still not sure how I feel about what I guess I'll call the big overarching story, but the character stories have so far proven to be quite good. Which, even if the overarching story ends up bad that still tends to be a net positive for me as long as the character storytelling also remains in focus (which...is not a guarantee in jrpg's, but I remain hopeful here). Love the intrigue around Pyra and her self-hatred because of her own powers, and if that continues to be a main feature of the games plot then I am probably going to love it. Stories of healing are pretty easily one of my favorite types of stories.

Sure is a shame that Pyra waited to have her power-up until after Vandham's definitely useful sacrifice, but I guess I can accept it given the nature of her powers

Played through Stranger of Paradise. It was pretty good! One of the better games with Final Fantasy in the name released in the last decade (I would say second after 7R I think, unless I'm forgetting something). Gameplay is fun and so is the cast. Weirdest thing is that Jack's last name is presented as a huge twist in the game, and is only revealed during the ending sequence. Kinda mindboggling that it was revealed in the pre-release marketing.

F/GO had basically eaten up all my Xenoblade 3 time last week but I should hopefully be able to mostly get back to it. (F/GO event responsible is still going but it was weirdly paced and should be more relaxed on my end from now on)

Yeah, planning a wedding during a pandemic was difficult.

Xenoblade 3: Chapter 6 but once I got freedom again I started going around the world during sidequests. Was impressed with two instances in particular that seemed to refer to choices made.

In Colony Tau when that one guy decided to go into the lower levels of the woods because tradition, I was shocked that the Tirkin Alliance came back up and was relevant. Enough so for me to almost wonder if that quest has a much darker end if you broke it off way back. Probably not though.

Then over in Colony Mu when they challenged us to a mock invasion they appeared to acknowledge the fact that I steamrolled them without ever using Interlink when in the aftermath they seemed mortified that "you didn't even use your Ouroboros powers." They also included the golden Ardun from the Armu breeding quest (though not in the battle part lol) by having him present in the aftermath cutscene and referring to/talking to him, which was cool.

I feel like I'm almost done with sidequests but I still have a few to go. Silly question though because I was wondering about it. Where does Ghondor go when not in the party? She doesn't appear to be in the City (but there's another NPC - Garrett - who I'm convinced has been hiding probably because some story/quest thing needs him; he showed up in like all the City quests) nor at Agnus Castle where her bodyguards are. I'm assuming that because per the story she's supposed to be accompanying me to whereever Mio wants to bring us means she simply isn't appearing as an NPC while dismissed but might as well ask. Just asking for "talking to her for dialogue" purposes.

I'm also curious what happens in the Tau quest if the alliance is broken off. For the Tirkin Alliance quest I collected all the materials and handed them over. I'm not even sure how that quest ends if I didn't do that. Maybe we somehow trick them into continuing it even if we don't bring the collectables?

I also didn't use Interlink either in that Colony Mu quest. Was the option even available? I never tried it.

Oh, you know, I didn't ever look at it. It's possible it was sealed for that quest which would make the acknowledgement less impressive of course. >_>

Watched the Uncharted movie tonight. Just as a straight action movie, it's pretty solid. Good effects and setpieces like you'd expect from the games. I can quibble with some of the differences between the games and the movie, but none of them are major (although I still think Wahlberg as Sully is a bizarre casting choice).

The Nolan North cameo was fantastic, made me laugh out loud. I wonder if they'll ever make the sequel and introduce Elena like the credits scene teased. It seems like the movie did decently enough, so maybe. I wouldn't mind seeing another one.

It's either a sequel or spiritual successor to the Valkyrie Profile games. VP1 is included in the special edition, and is getting released on PS4 in general on the same day.

Xenoblade 3 Final Chapter beaten

Good game!

Although, the Origin dungeon itself wasn't great. It was mostly just following a single path the whole time constantly getting into battles with enemies that are much lower level than I am. X and Y also showed up and got offed with little fanfare. How does Eunie's side quest work if X is already dead? Like her side quest was optional and presumably does not expire, right? The final battles with Z and associated cutscenes were good, though. But, I'm not really sure what happens to the people who were descended from N and M who weren't tied to one world or the other.

I sort of wish the game tied into Xenoblade 1 and 2 bit more than it did. I guess I liked Xenoblade 2's approach here more where the developers lied and said the game wasn't connected to Xenoblade 1 and it was a cool surprise when it turned out it was. Xenoblade 3 kinda felt like it would have stronger connections but in the end Nia and Melia don't show up until the end of the game. Even their fakes barely showed up. That picture of Rex, is really something else, though. Seeing Shulk's Monado put a smile on my face but doesn't really tell me anything about what happened to Shulk. Also nothing really came from the image of Uraya being cut in half by the Mechonis sword. It seems like that might have just happened due to merge conflicts or something rather than the result of a battle.

Nothing really came out of the Riku plotline. So I guess he was telling the truth that he wasn't really anyone special and just got the sword from his unnamed (?) masterpon.

Overall, I liked all the playable cast members and most of the guest Heroes. I'm not really sure the writers knew what to do with Sena. Lanz kinda already filled in for her role which didn't really leave much room for her. I guess Sena's side story turned into Ghondor's side story for a reason. >_>

From here I've still got to finish off a bunch of quests before going into NG+.

I got a bit further into Chapter 6 (Liberated Colony Omega/Completed Mio's Side Story) and did the Hero Quest that unlocks like 5 feet from your location right after that but didn't think it warranted a big progress post yet even though I have some thoughts about that.

Segiri's Hero Quest. I found it amusing when the party was talking about how it wasn't right that she was only given the designation of No. 7 instead of a name since Seven is a common codename to reference to a certain character from Xenoblade 1.

It's a bit odd which of the Hero Quests are mandatory and which are optional, but it works okay, heh.

They're all gone, since the state of the world is reverted to what it was before the collision.

I really hate the ending.

The post-game quests are pretty good, and we get a lot more Nia/Melia. But they're also frustrating, knowing that everything you do is pointless because it's all going to be reverted by the worlds separating.

Xenoblade 3 ending spoilers in response to Mac Arrowny.

Is the the state of the world fully reverted? I wasn't really sure what to make of the ending scene with Young Noah at the very end. Prior to that it felt like the worlds would separate but continue onward. Like Mio explicitly mentions in a diary entry that a long time had passed since she last met Noah and her memories of him had started to fade a bit. I read that as the worlds continuing on separated from each other.

I forget if Riku's masterpon was given a name or not. Fixifixi is the nopon in the jail, right? I haven't done anything with him yet and he never says anything. I've been assuming he'll be part of a future quest. If he is and that's where the connection to Riku was revealed, then I haven't gotten there yet. If that's not where it is from, then I probably just forgot. This game just has so many names and character relations to remember.

I might have misunderstood the ending - hopefully they'll expand upon it in the DLC.

Surprised you missed the quest with Fixifixi, since it become available in Chapter 7. If you want a hint, you should try talking to him with Valdi in your party. assuming you already started the quest (which you may or may not have).

I just tried it out. It turns out that I did start that quest but didn't actually do it before finishing the main story.
