He often doesnt like it when his whales drop a large tip at the start of the stream. In his own words, this makes people think oh Phil got a big tip, he should be fine we dont need to support. No! That doesnt mean you cant donate!

He can't cry poor if people KNOW how much money he has made. Phil has a history of obfuscating how much money he has. When he made like 35k extra from his vest streak and was called out on it, he claimed it was inacurate and already gone.

He always does this. But once people have actual tangible knowledge, it's a whole different story. He is scared as shit to accept it, because then he can't so his old song and dance.

He probably calculated that over the long term he can wring more than 50k+podcast income extra out of his fanbase if they think he's one tip away from dying in a gutter something despite owning a giant home way out of his supposed income bracket and having nearly all his debt forgiven.

Eventually it'll make the pig squeel. As much as he hates to deny it, detractors is what keeps Phil afloat. They reach a far greater audience than Phil ever could, this in turn brings in trolls and troll donations.

Yes he has a few whales, but they love to "stick it" to the haters. But what happens if there no longer is an "us vs them" dynamic, no common enemy to fight against. Then Phil only can lash out and bitch to his loyal following, because he has no one or nothing else to lash out against. And even though his whales are.... "special", everyone has a breaking point if you keep pushing long enough.
