Whenever I meet someone, I don't care what gender they are. I don't care what gender I am. I just do things I like.

I'm constantly confused about what makes gender/gender expression so intriguing when it seems extremely claustrophobic obsessing over gender and sexuality like it even matters. Everyone is so proud of identifying as something or being part of a group, but to me, the humanity and individualism gets lost in that. I find terms like "cis hetero normative" etc to be extremely clunky and unrelatable and just cannot be bothered. When did this become so important? I also think people are not born in the wrong bodies because everybody is perfect just the way they are. We have body parts, big deal? The fact that people are hating their own body and not finding love in themselves seems sad to me, and I don't feel like changing the body fixes the issue that existed in the first place. Am I crazy?

Well, for starters, a big part of why the GOP thinks I should die is I'm attracted to both.

You are not crazy you just lack an understanding. For someone who has had water all of their life it must seem confusing to the people who deal with drought. In much the same way for a person who walks through life catered to by the majority it can be confusing how the minority who must fight for their happiness is proud of the fact they they try.

Spoken nicely. It's a privilege thing, honestly, and even for the non vocal, finding oneself is a big part of lots of history and literature. Gender expression just happens to be visible now because awareness (and counterawareness) is so much greater than even 10 years ago.

I would eyeball it as happening in the late 1700s/early 1800s, in the US at least.

I think it's kind of rare to not care about gender. Almost everyone includes it in how they understand themselves and others. That's why it matters to so many people.

It would probably be useful to apply a bit of a perspective flip here. From my perspective, an bisexual trans person, I really only want to dress how I like and love who I love - it's not complicated. When I'm in a queer space with other queer people, there is really nothing more than this that needs to be said. But you guys - and I say you guys to mean broader, cisgender-heterosexual society as a whole - are absolutely obsessed with gender. You really are, and you don't even realize it. You have so many norms that are upheld rigorously and sometimes violently without a second thought that prevent me from just existing the way I want to be, and fighting against those norms is why we have to 'appear' to be so obsessed with gender, because we can't just quietly accept our oppression.

And the reason 'cisgender' and 'heterosexual' seem so clinical to you is because we've been prevented from making words to describe ourselves and other people in this way for centuries. Sorry, it's a growing pain.
