That feel when I didn't even think the result would happen since there was a whole "year of the dads" thing. Yup, getting a dad hardbooted and failing to get an actually incredible dad in the contest (maybe more that people would point out by quoting this post). Definitely the signs for a fake "year of"
Should stick to saying it's the year of a singular person.

Im not even entirely sure what Im backing this year. Raijin probably dies immediately after the boots since most people were never interested enough to him to even make it into the contest. Got plenty of time to think about options at least, but might main Yuffie

Yuffie is my favorite from 7 and shes made a final before so she has potential! Maybe next year if/when Remake 2 is out since she should have more time in the game than just a DLC. Speaking of kinda surprised the dude from that didnt get in since 7 never fails to be bloated.

I'm always on the lookout for ff8 characters at the end stay the course

You know I just realized almost every Cid is a dad

Dad Cids: IV, V, X, XII, XV, T, TA
Non-dad Cids: VI, VII, VIII, IX, XIII, TCB

Might be wrong on a few.

Shadow barely has any character and "being a good dad" is certainly not part of it

6 and 9 are adoptive fathers

I would definitely argue for VI and VIII Cids being dads.

IX you can go with a fatherly figure for Garnet

Laguna isnt a bad dad. Hes an absent dad, which yes can be a bad dad, but Laguna has a good excuse in that he didnt know Squall was his son. You can argue he could have been a better adopted dad to Ellone I guess

The only thing Laguna did wrong was send Ellone back to Winhill alone. Everything after that was from him being stuck as President for life in a country that cut itself off from the rest of the world.
