https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/8/4/6/AAYm74AADSp-.jpg the way that battery testing is done is they use the phone all day, pretty much constant web usage until the phone dies. Then they do it a few more times. And this is how the results of the top 10 list is completed. I looked this up because tonight I did an upgrade for my cricket wireless phone. I've had for a couple years now and got the Moto G Power (2021) since it was only $50 with my upgrade special. And wow that phone is number one!! A 5000 mAh battery. They consider it even a "budget" phone since it goes for $200 or less. Isn't it a shame how an iphone 13 that costs between $700 to $1000 can't even last as long as a $200 Motorola phone? Lol

I still have my Note 10+, and unlike other phones I've had this one's battery is still going strong after almost 3 years so I'm quite pleased. All the other phones I've had ended up with shot batteries that couldn't keep a charge after 1-2 years

@VigorouslySwish ummm no... An Android phone can't get a virus even. Can get malware but that's easily deleted. I'd any day take a phone that's $200 or less that's has the best battery ever, than a $1000 phone that has "best" security

sounds like you have no clue what you're talking about

also, hows the idle life for those androids? the samsungs last like a day or two tops in idle but an iphone can last longer than a week

@Kloe_Rinz I explained this is not idle time. It's constant web usage from 100% battery to dead. Then done a few more times. So if it's a constant 14 hours web usage , then idle would be a few days at least. But hey just wanted to put the proof out to everyone. No need to be defensive did you are an iPhone user

Yeah, mine is pretty good too. I have noticed it draining faster than it used to, but I can't really complain.

I'm using #7 on the list. I haven't tested to see how long it could go idle but if I unplug it at 100% and then go to sleep I wake up and it still has more than 90% power left

I have a nord n10 5g and can confirm, it's really reliable. Don't ever charge overnight unless I'm at 25 percent or lower. Just put it on charge for a few mins on the dash charger in the am and that's it.

Moto is trash nowadays. Plus most budget phones always have better battery life because they're budget phones and run much lighter.

@archedsoul so when is apple gonna make an iphone that has a longer battery than a budget phone? Maybe if they didn't release a phone every single year like an EA sports game they could put more work into that

What does this have to do with Apple?

More work into what? iPhones and Galaxies take up much more power since they're much more powerful.

Moto is also a shell of it's former self nowadays and their phones have tons of problems.

Point out where I made it about Apple. I explained to you that Moto is a trash company and that of course budget phones will have amazing battery life because of their low power usage.

You're accusing people of being iPhone owners and literally talking about a budget phone from a trash company and keep bringing up Apple as if they're in any way comparable. If you stripped iPhones of everything, I'm sure you can push out way more battery too.

@archedsoul ummm maybe you've never owned a good Motorola phone? Right now I'm using the moto E5 cruise which released in 2018. I've had it for 2 years already and it's been great. Nearly any game I've played had ran smooth. And the battery life is really good even though it's only a 2700 mAh battery. And only has 2 gigs of RAM.

I just needed an upgrade really. And since I could get that new one for only $50 with my upgrade special I jumped on it. As that motoral power g has everything better than my phone now. My phone now is only 5.2 inches, that one is 6.6 inches. So when I watch movies and other videos it will be much nicer

This post is kind of enough to show you just don't know what you're talking about.

You might be fine with budget shit that literally has the PS Vita's SoC from 2012, but there's a lot more to phones and to concentrate on just the battery is a clear misunderstanding.

And the issues with Moto are not just based on my experiences, but with most in the smartphone community. From hardware issues to trash policies about updates and abandoning phones.

https://www.wired.com/story/motorola-software-updates-rant/

More power to you if you're cool with budget stuff, but trying to compare them just shows you're out of your depth.

@archedsoul well I don't need an expensive premium phone. So maybe that's why I'm fine with it. Like I said for $50 I'm getting a phone that everything in it is better than mine. 4 gig ram compared to my 2, 5000 mah battery compared to my 2700. New phone being 1.4 inches bigger than my current one. The snap dragon processor being a lot better than the one in mine. Since I love phone games that will be great. Also the camera is a lot higher quality than my current phone. I am mostly basic honestly, I don't use any social media platforms so don't need them on my phone, I don't use any type of Google pay or other phone paying NFC type apps. And I don't use messengers like what's app or WeChat. I use the Brave web browser since it blocks all ads and pop ups, no ads in any YouTube videos is great. And for music I have Deezer.

So budget phone for me is almost the same as buying a premium super expensive phone such as iPhones.

And the list can go on really. This new phone will be perfect for me. By the way if you have an iPhone or any of the other really expensive phones.. does your battery drain a lot if you use all the features like messengers apps and social media apps? I know I read the top 10 most draining apps and one is Facebook and another is Snapchat

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

There's vulnerability issues with both as another poster said nothing is fully safe. However, iOS provides updates and security patches for 5-6 years.

Depending on the manufacturer with Android, updates stop within 1-2 years, and security patches an extra year with some and sometimes no more after updates stop. After that, your phone is exposed to any new security threats.

Some also take forever to provide it. I didn't get any updates or security patches on my S20 from October 2021 to March 2022 because the carrier was being super slow about it. My unlocked S20 on the other hand kept getting updates every month.

That's fine. I wasn't really try to knock you for getting budget stuff and being fine with it. I was more trying to say that using the battery to compare more expensive phones is leaving so much out.

Also, I feel like going budget is not always wise, unless like in your case for $50. If you were to pay retail, you'd be getting rather ripped off since Google Fi is offering the unlocked S22 for $300.

My biggest battery drain is the 120hz screen with my phones. I'm mostly Galaxy nowadays, though I'm a smartphone enthusiast in general.
