However, iOS provides updates and security patches for 5-6 years. Depending on the manufacturer with Android, updates stop within 1-2 years, and security patches an extra year with some and sometimes no more after updates stop. After that, your phone is exposed to any new security threats. Some also take forever to provide it. I didn't get any updates or security patches on my S20 from October 2021 to March 2022 because the carrier was being super slow about it.
