Board 8 > Anyone wanna recommend me a game?

Looking for something that I suppose would fall under horror, but rather than relying on traditional horror game elements ("scary" enemies, jump scares, heart-pounding battles, etc), I'm looking for something more unnerving. Warped music, grainy picture, uncanny valley and other disturbing imagery, creepy sounds (children laughing, distant circus music, weird radio broadcasts, etc), a mysterious backstory (ie "10 years ago everyone in this building suddenly vanished"), maybe you're playing as the only actual person in the game and everyone else is represented through journals, recordings, etc.

I've already played Layers of Fear which I guess is along those lines but still a little more jump-scare-y than I'm looking for. Still, probably the closest thing I can point to to say "this is kinda what I'm looking for."

Preferably the game would be playable on PS5(/4) or Switch.

Lone Survivor & Claire both fit the bill perfectly.

The Chilla's Art game Night Delivery would definitely be up your alley too.

Maybe look into Fears to Fathom - maybe not so uncanny, but the episodes feature stories based on supposedly real & disturbing events.

Chasing Static is a good one as well. Maybe even look into Alisa, if you like classic survival horror.

Oh one more fun one is a game called Catworld, though it's only a demo so far - it's like a classic 3D platformer set in a Silent Hill-esque otherworld.

I really want to recommend No One Lives Under the Lighthouse, but I think it's PC only. Super low system requirements, though, if that's the issue.

With those platform limitations, I could only think of Get Even checking off several boxes and could recommend, though I do have doubts if you in particular would like it. Still, it is on sale for less than $5 until the 26th.

The Medium sounds like it might be what youre looking for.

It has many moments that may startle you, but it only has one genuine jump scare and its such a random one with no real explanation.

The spiritual aspect of the game was heavily inspired by a famous Polish surrealist artist, so it has the atmosphere part down.
