As any good millennial, I grew up on N64 Goldeneye, and thus that, and the rest of the Brosnan Bonds, were my first movies. I just finished 3 of 5 Daniel Craig films. Figured I'd go back in time for a bit before I finish off Spectre and No Time To Die. First up, The Living Daylights I'm 10 minutes in, and it seems really hokey. But lets see how this plays out. My tentative itinerary is to watch the 2 Dalton movies, then get a healthy mix of Connery/Moore for the next 3-5 movies. After that, I will pick off the straggler movies as I get bored. Feel free to recommend Connery/Moore movies I should watch first. I am thinking Moonraker and Goldfinger are gonna be the first two after Dalton. --- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVkE2oJrxM8 ... Everyone has their likes and dislikes throughout the series. Goldfinger is good. My favorite Connery is You Only Live Twice.Another is Diamonds Are Forever which some tend to dislike. I was debating Golden Gun, but it got pretty bad critic reviews (according to wikipedia), so it was low on the list. I would like to watch it to see the tie-in to the Goldeneye video game level. Moonraker is pretty bad. I love it when Bond gets campy, but Moonraker is just bleh. Octopussy might be my favorite "bad" Bond movie because it's got all the slick spy stuff, plus a ton of ridiculous stupidity. It's so much fun. But if you're going to watch Moonraker, you should watch The Spy Who Loved Me first like another poster said. Most of the earlier Bond movies are standalones but Moonraker is a semi-sequel to Spy Who Loved Me. Diamonds Are Forever is another one that I enjoy for the camp factor, although some people hate that one. From Russia with Love is probably the most "serious" classic Bond movie, with a similar style to the newer Craig ones, if you prefer that instead of the camp. On Her Majesty's Secret Service is a gem that seems to get overlooked sometimes. Probably because the dude who played Bond was a one-shot for this movie. --- The owls are not what they seem. ... So his name doesn't have the same pull as the other Bonds. Plus he was never a famous actor like the rest either. Lots of people talk about the movies based on the actors, like the Connery era or the Bronson era, etc. Lazenby slips right between the cracks. Oh yeah, I'll also mention the 1967 Casino Royale. That's a batshit insane movie. Once you've seen enough of the earlier Bonds, if you want something really crazy, give this a try. It's one of my favorite movies. It's a glorious mess. Tomorrow Never Dies actually aged better, because in this modern time a media conglomerate trying to drive up stories through nefarious means resonates way more today than it did in 1997.
