I've done multiple playthroughs of Other M and will probably play more times times in the future. I do enjoy the translation of 2D Metroid into a 3D space kept distinct from Prime's FPS approach, and I would like another attempt at it without Other M's bad story, dumb random design decisions and restricted controls.

TLJ I got nothin' good to say about, I've watched it the one time and I don't imagine I'll ever do it again.

I actually enjoyed The Last Jedi, which was entertaining while it lasted even if it threw away Rey's potential.

TLJ had that culture war divisive political shit going on, and a much wider range of opinions. TROS didn't have any of that (or significantly less), it just isn't very good

TLJ would have been contentious anyway, but 70% of the intense backlash towards the film is misogyny and racism. That the film doesn't even do a good job representing people of color just makes those people look even more bigoted.

I had fun with Other M. It lines up with sensibilities of the time. "The baby" and all--definitely corny and melodramatic but I resonate with it. It's earnest.

Last Jedi is a product of the miserable, cynical outlook of the mid-10s leading up to now. For one, the idea that the heroes of the past are old hat, 'outdated', has always confused me. Those stories are prevailing for a reason. Star Wars has been relentlessly spoofed for as long as it's ever been a thing, but to try and 'fix' it within the film canon proper is a step over the line. Instead of building on the foundation that was already there, the sequels hack into Star Wars over and over until left standing in a pile of splinters. 'Deconstruction' can't hold without substance.

The final battle on the mining planet was neat, visually.

I have, for awhile, considered TLJ to be half a good movie and half a terrible one. It's the next movie on my watchthrough so we'll see if that opinion holds.

Problem is that watching TFA again was pleasant, but secured that Rey is at her best with Finn, Finn is the best of the new characters and we know how that turns out in TLJ, and I just watched Rogue One which actually is a huge departure from Star Wars films (unlike TLJ which is a huge poser).

But maybe I'll be surprised with TLJ and rank it higher than I expect.

This sounds about right (not sure it's exactly half, probably more terrible than good, but whatever). I feel like the best scenes make people forget how terrible it is for most of it, in particular because it ends on a high note, shouldn't overshadow how bad a lot of it is.

Personally I didn't have any real problem with TLJ beyond just generally finding the film overly long and overstuffed. It felt like watching two or three movies simultaneously.

I want to mention that I had the exact same problem with Batman Returns though.
