SS3 solidified transformations for the sake of transformations. It was obtained offscreen both times. We have no idea how one achieves it. It's fundamentally useless. Nobody ever masters it. It's completely forgotten ones SSG happens. SSG reigned things in a little bit where each transformation at least has a purpose in-universe, even if the real meta purpose is merch. ... I feel like it should have stopped at SSJ2. You can say King Kai was mistaken about False Super Saiyan and that the transformation Goku does on Namek is actually False Super Saiyan, while Gohan achieved the first real Super Saiyan during Cell saga. Then from there every other power up needs a concrete explanation other than "I just got stronger" In Saint Seiya the powerups they get are pretty clearly defined.

Ss3. If I had to streamline the transformations so there aren't too many, I'd keep 1, 2, God (Goku exclusive), blue (Vegeta exclusive), UI, UE. God and Blue would be roughly the same power, but while Goku would spend the early two arcs trying to achieve god on his own merit, Vegeta would go his own way and get blue. --- @('_')@ ... Probably SS3 As much as I like the Buu Saga, that was totally pointless. But even by then the "Only Goku and maybe Gohan for a moment get a chance to be relevant" had sunk in. You got Krillin, Tien, Yamcha, Trunks all siting on their hands doing jackshit. Even Vegeta for all his bluster ultimately doesn't do much. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with having Goku be stronger than everyone else. Super Saiyan 3. The whole arc was about fusing and absorbing, until they couldn't think of anything more to do with that and gave up, and Super Saiyan 3 played basically no role in this story - it was basically filler on Goku; a preamble to nothing, and merely an aspect of Gotenks. --- I am quite the town freak, which satisfies. ... SSJ2 just being a perfected SSJ was actually good writing foreshadowing since that same arc introduced "Ascended" SSJ which is just SSJ2 with major flaws and was a good foil to Cell trying to reach perfection as well. SSJ 2 should've looked different and be exclusive to Gohan. SSJ 3 was stupid AF. SSJG/Blue were cool concepts but had awful names that ruined them. Shouldn't have been called "SSJ" in the first place, specially SSJGSSJ. Dumb. Ultra Instinct was the coolest thing to happen to DB since SSJ. Ultra Ego is pretty cool too. So I'd say it jumped the shark when everyone could turn SSJ2 in the Buu arc, could've saved it with God ki transformation but fucked up the concept/name and finally redeemed themselved with UI. I liked everything up to super saiyan 3, but with Super it got kind of ridiculous. Super Saiyan God looks kinda like kaio-ken, but it's the ultimate form, because now he's a God. But then Super Saiyan Blue is even stronger than that... somehow.
