shouldn't the tutorial boss canonically be the "first boss"? (not the grafted thing before that)

I guess margit is like the first "wall" boss, or area boss. although I think you can just walk around him too.

It's an optional boss, it also has no lore relevance.

I found a blue one of those but my guy doesnt really need it (I think it increases spell damage or reduces FP cost or something)

There are actually 5 variants. From kind of went overboard with all the armor pieces that are nearly aesthetically identical to one another.

Speaking of armor, does defense matter in this game or should I put on headgear that increases stats?

I usually go fashion-first, and only switch things up if I need to get a boost to a stat or I find something more fashionable

margit/morgott, and godrick/godfrey/godefrey

and most people probably aren't going to make the margit and morgott connection unless they have a fuckin eidetic memory

Because it's a continuous world, not an arcade game.

the buttons for the elevators don't go to anything

you can just look under the wood ones and the button just goes through the platform

but also

why are there not just buttons to bring the elevators back to where you are, why does only the divine towers have the advanced buttons

So enemies can come back from the dead and NPCs can teleport around the map like moles but elevators can't move on their own, something which they already do in real life

Read the lore, dude. When you die you acutally die. You don't go back in time, and people can revive or travel in the time it takes for you to revive. Notice how if you die at night, it's suddenly the morning.

It has been over a decade

there's lots of reasons, but I think the main one is that elevators are part of the "hard state" of the dungeon/world. they do no move on their own, and you can rely on that. if you move it up, it stays up. they're one of the few parts of the world that you're having a permanent effect on. and this is important for consistency.

there might still be exceptions though. I vaguely recall the Anor Londo elevator/platform thing will sometimes move by itself as you approach it, but can't remember for sure.

anor lando was a clusterfuck as it is, i wouldn't be surprised if it was some memory crash causing the elevator to reset

Regal Ancestral Spirit is very annoying. Constantly jumping around and healing when my attack goes straight through its hitbox without damaging it every time I go for a killing blow.

I prefer to stay on foot so I can use guard counters.

Gargoyles got me with the classic Dark Souls experience. Got them down to one hit away from death, got hit several times in a row, lost my cool, and then I died.

Then on the next try they both fell off the side.

the dumb fucking platforming sections is the only impossible thing in this game what the fuck

Fuck the Fia's Champions fight. You have to get lucky on people using shitty builds when the 3v1 starts. When I beat them, one of the champions just had a torch.

Same goes for that massive living jar's champions, I believe.
