When I was about twelve years old my brother and I were in Youth Volunteer Services for the summer. One day the guy in charge of my group took us to get something to eat because several of us were hungry; I was as well but I didn't have any money. The counselor didn't have much money but he said he'd buy me something on the condition that I pay him back whenever I could.

Now apparently, that whole event just got wiped out of my memory. A few days/weeks later he saw me counting out some money I had. Without saying anything he just sort of held his hand out expectantly. I, not having any recollection of the previous events, just sort of pulled the money back and shot him a weird look. He paused for a minute, and then just kind of walked away looking disappointed.

I actually didn't remember any of this at all until recently when my brother explained it to me, how I "borrowed some money and refused to pay it back." I was totally shocked that it looked that way. If someone had explained the situation and reminded me, I would have been happy to pay him back.

If anything, he's the oddity for expecting you to remember a favor he did for you presumably decades ago, for expecting to be paid back for aforementioned favor, and for expecting a twelve-year-old to be able to be held accountable for his finances.

Yes

My my friend pulled into a parking lot. Then another person parked right next to us. I waited for the other person to leave their car first before i got out of the car. I had the window down because it was hot. After she exited she said sorry for delaying me. But I started rolling up the window as soon as she finished exiting so I could get out. So I ended up rolling the window up on someone apologizing to me. She was long gone by the time I got out.

He said a few days/weeks later, not decades later.

Over Christmas, I turned around and told a middle-aged woman to 'get off my ass' in a buffet lineup, since she was hovering a few inches behind me for at least 10 minutes. She got very shocked, but I just ignored her. I turned around later and apologized saying I was grumpy.

I don't think I've ever accidentally been an asshole to someone. Mainly because I'm usually too busy being an asshole deliberately.

Yeah, but the rest of the story still kind of paints him as the asshole, not you.

For the record I don't think the guy in my story was an asshole at all; he just wanted to feed a hungry kid with what little money he had. I do think he could have bothered to actually explain himself rather than expect a kid to automatically remember a debt, but either way I feel bad that I never paid him back.

Yeah one time a customer approached me and asked where she could find bags of ice. I thought I was being friendly and helpful when I put on a big smile and said "See that big sign that says 'ice'?"

I realized a second after that it came across as rude but it was too late lol

I've been told I am a lot.

I don't like people in general. I'm not talkative, and when I'm not at home, I'm out for a reason. I go in, get what I want, and go out. I've been told people have tried to stop my and say "Hi" but I just ignored them.

I don't remember doing it on purpose - but I don't have great distance vision and I don't wear my glasses unless I'm driving. I'm also deaf in one ear. So I come off as a real asshole at times, but I just don't really care. If I want to talk to someone, I initiate it.

What kind of adult expects a 12 year old kid to pay them back?
And what kind of adult doesn't just remind the kid he owes them money instead of holding out his hand and expecting you to know what he wants?

Weird.

As a bartender at work, servers will often come by and grab drink glasses for refills, and one asked me for a stack of cups the other day while I was busy and I just turned and pointed at a giant tub of cups the dishwashers had just brought me she had walked past and I realised I came off as rude and assholeish so I apologised later for it.

It's never a accident when I'm a arsehole to someone. It's actually very intentional.

I think I was like 10 or 11 at the time, and I was at the state fair with my parents. We had stopped to get some food and I picked a stand that sold roasted corn on the cob. We wanted to get somewhere, so we started walking to wherever it was while eating our snacks. On the way, two teenage girls stopped me and asked where I got the corn from. My parents didn't notice I got stopped and kept walking, so not wanting to loose them I just pointed back the way I came from and said "over there" then walked away.

I could hear them saying "what does that mean?" while I was running in the other direction.

I wake up crabby sometimes. I was sick last time I got my 3rd dose and my girlfriend was nagging me about symptoms and I snapped at her. She pulled over and started crying. I got that rollercoaster feeling in my chest I hadn't had in 20 years. I was also off my trt and should've refilled the meds.

I made it up to her. I felt like an asshole. First time she ever cried because of something I've done to her since 2014 when we met. She was just worried about me, poor bear.

Yes. For the last year or so, I've been a freelance delivery person. I've made many driving faux pas. But the greatest offense I've committed as a delivery person is delivering orders to people at a temperature they would find less than ideal. For the past year or so, I've been delivering hot food warm and cold food at ``less than ideal temperatures''. I do not want to go into specifics. I feel terrible about it. I feel terrible, also, about not being very friendly to my clients or the lot I am to pick up food from. I feel bad about performing driving maneuvers that burden others on the road.

Before doing the delivery gig, I was a tutor for an online tutoring site. I am ashamed to say that I had helped no one on that site. I was very poor at explaining math concepts to others, having had no prior experience doing so. I was socially anxious to boot, also, and my knowledge of algebra, trigonometry, and conic sections was very rusty. I never felt like anyone learnt a thing in my presence. When it came time to end a given tutoring session, I'd end it in a hurry, make the hapless student feel like I did not want to talk to him, that he was not worth my time, or that I just wasted his. I still feel terrible about it.

I am just averse to human interaction in general. It is easily the most tiring part of any job I do. While I was working as a rental car transporter, I was tasked with assisting customers, mostly tourists, with the logistics of renting or returning a car, but I refused to. It did not end in my termination, but I did get fired less than a month after joining the team for an unrelated reason.

Get a tote bag for food if you care about the temperature. That's not your fault a anyway.
