Interesting theory considering insulin cost me more when i was underweight due to needing it more than i do now that im of healthy weight. My endocrinologist and pcp would probably flip their shit if i started losing weight again.

Thankfully though it doesnt affect me much as my insurance keeps my insulin around $24 for about 5 weeks supply anyways. Prior to my current insurance company though it used to cost hundreds for both regular insulin and especially lantus though so i do feel sorry for those that are being screwed.

His position is somewhat ignorant, but he's quite right that fat fucks, which make up for the overwhelming majority of people with diabetes, should lose weight.

As a matter of fact, I believe that any groups that are liable to a financial drain on society, especially thanks for the push for more socialist cancers as we've been seeing, should be penalized in the form of paying more taxes.

Full agreement on dialysis. If i live long enough to see that scenario i plan to opt out as well.

Id 100% be dead or in a state where i might as well be if i stopped taking insulin though. If for whatever reason i couldnt access it id prefer to just use a gun personally.

Somethings here:

1. Fat isnt exactly the issue when it comes to all diabetes.
2. In the case where diabetes is acquired(type 2) it isnt all fat but the accumulation of visceral fat. So you might have one person on my 600lb life be diabetes free but one average guy with a spare tire having full blown Type 2.
3. So you think people that are already paying taxes but have a medical condition should pay more because theyre a drain on the system instead of calling for the billionaires that evade paying taxes to pay what they must?

Point #3 is important because its the basics of rightwing propaganda. Truth is if the rich(both individuals and corps) actually contributed the way everyone else does then it doesnt matter if EVERYBODY has diabetes wed all be able to get our insulin with tons of money left over.

The irony is that diabetes disproportionately affects the working poor and blue collar class.
Also there's a huge genetic aspect to it.

Friendly reminder that the US government spends more than twice as much per capita on health care than any other country in the world (second being Canada, who has its own gross inefficiencies and is itself quite a bit higher than third place) and still can't manage to provide it to all of its citizens. This notion that socializing the American health care system would require a tax increase is outright wrong. The money's already being spent, it's just being spent in stupid, inefficient ways that ultimately cost more than having a proper health care system would.

Obese people tend to rack up fewer health care costs over the course of their lives than those you would consider "healthy," simply because they tend not to live as long. Getting old gets very expensive.

There's no point in arguing with Republicans anymore, they don't have beliefs aside from "we want whatever pisses off democrats and independents." The single most accurate description of a God loving conservative I've heard is "They'll eat shit as long as a liberal has to smell their breath."

When the Right says they want "equal" contributions, they don't mean equal percentage. Like, if a single mom working two jobs pays around 40K in taxes a year (I pulled that number out of my ass, it doesn't matter in this example) then they think billionaires should only have to pay 40k in taxes too.

If you include tax breaks, some companies are actually GAINING taxes, not paying them.

Which is mostly why Democrats never actually make meaningful steps toward improving the wealth disparity issue. They make a few token efforts under the pretense that that's all they can manage, since doing so is a part of their party identity, but they rely too heavily on lobbying from major corporations to ever really tax the rich properly.

Making a few token efforts for the sake of maintaining their party identity, however, is still better than steadfastly resisting those efforts and actively making the problem worse for the sake of maintaining party identity, as the GOP does. Neither is particularly beneficial, but I'd rather see the problem made 0.1% better than 0% better.

I like my analogy of choosing to vote for a progressive is like choosing to drink a fresh glass of water. Choosing an establishment dem is like drinking a highly sugary drink. And choosing to vote republican is like choosing to drink antifreeze.

One will straight up kill you. The other isnt exactly an amazing choice but its not deadly in the short term.
