Board 8 > How many games have you spent more than five hours of your life playing?

Just found myself wondering how the board would lean on this poll.

I guessed the 600 - 1000 option since iIve been gaming since I was pretty young and Im 31 now, but I dunno. Theres a lot of variance from month to month.
January I basically played nothing but FFXIV, so that would just be one game and not even a new one.. then in March I think my count would be 4 games I hadnt played before that I played for at least five hours.

so I just did a kind of conservative (25 games x 25 years) calculation and that put me at like 600 something

tough for me to say whether it's above or below 300. it'd be much higher if i hadn't been bit by the MMO bug. i'll click the 301-600 category to be safe

i have 150 games on steam with >= 5 hours played, and i've been pretty much PC only for my adulthood

Guessed 601-1000, but I'm probably closer to undershooting that than overshooting it, mostly based off of how many games I rented growing up.

Why play 1000 games for 5 hours when you can play 1 game for 5000 hours.

I have spent a lot of my time gaming, but only started gaming more around 5 years ago, and I almost always play Final Fantasy. I'm 15 though, and again, only started gaming a lot 5 years ago, so I have not played as many games as other people. I also like spending more time each game with less games overall than less time each game and more games overall

I also started playing MTG, so that's taking away a lot of my time(and money)

For the past 5 or so years I averaged 5 new games a year. Before that for about a 5 year span it was more like 8 games. From 2007-2012 I was bumping about 10 games a year. From 2000-2007 I was likely going about 12 games a year. And peak video game me from 1995-2000 was probably intaking about 16-20 new games a year.

Im right on the cusp of 300. I said over just because it felt right.

I feel like it has to be over 1000, particularly because it doesn't specify video games.

Basically, this. I have no idea how many games I've played, and it's probably a decently large number since I've had over 30 years to pile up the total, but I tend to play "tall," not "wide." There was a 2.5 year in 2001-2004 where basically all I played was EverQuest, but I was playing it for 14+ hours a day.

I'd have to estimate but it's probably less than my gaming habits would suggest. Hell, when I was a kid, I barely ever got to play new games and I just played the same stuff over and over again because it's not like we could afford ten new games a year or whatever.

Despite being 35, and gaming my entire life, I was thinking my number is probably only around 300 or even lower. Like half of those years I probably played less than 10 games a year. The 100-300 range actually works pretty well for this.

I voted 100-300 but I'm probably actually on the lower end of the next tier up. All I can really do is estimate based on the number of games I've beaten though.

I had a solid 6 or so years in my 20s where I really only played multiplayer games, otherwise I think I might break 600

I don't game that fast, nor do I play much outside of long RPGs, so I went with a modest 101-300. I have no real idea, though.

Wait actually I can count ~159 from the DS, 3DS, Wii, Switch, PS3, PS4, 360, and Steam. I feel it's very unlikely I played more than 141 different games as a kid on older systems.

I can't be sure. My parents tried to limit my play time as a kid, but that went away when I got my own systems. Then I had my "hardcore gamer" phase (I'd say I wanted my time back but I'd just waste it anyway), and I played a lot of stuff. I've eased off over the last decade...

But I'm past 40 and figure maybe 1000 sounds ok.
