So, as an example: Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy in the eponymous story isn't what I'm looking for since it directly moves the plot. Itchy&Scratchy on The Simpsons is a good example, it serves only as internalized entertainment... except for the episodes specifically about it (like Poochy) ...
