Two separate tournaments running (almost) concurrently:

Anything goes.

N/R Festival:
Same ruleset as the in-game event

I'll be up for both. And I won't be playing any Monarchs this time, since I'll (hopefully) actually be comfortable enough with my other deck to actually play it.

Shit, I think I actually won't be able to make this one. Just remembered I'm going to see the Canada world cup qualifier game next Sunday.

Game isn't until 4pm but I doubt this'll be over by then, so I'll have to catch the next one.

Both for now. Not sure though if my interest will remain through the week.

We'll also see if I still feel like playing Sharks by that point. I actually had a neat CXyz deck as a backup, but the random and unneeded hit to Star Seraph Scepter sucks.

I was considering building a different deck (Yubel/Nephthys) for this than the one I'm using for the event itself but I've decided that I'm not actually super inclined to spend time on it and the extra games this weekend when I do still have to get to 10k on the event itself (Crossed the 5k mark today, will probably play 4-5 more games tomorrow, and just grind it out over the weekend)

Rules (Modern & NR)
- 2/3 double elim (Modern); ROUND ROBIN (NR)
- Winner will be determined by Match Record (NR). In the event of a tie, the top two will play one final set to determine winner.
- You may not make any changes to your deck once the tournament begins.
- Loser of Game 1 picks whether to go first or second. Whoever wins coin toss in-game for Game 2 picks according to what Loser of Game 1 decides.
- Report outcome of match in the topic
- Coordinate a time with your opponent to play your match. You will be given a match loss if you do not respond within 90 minutes of your matchup being posted.
- In the event of a disconnect, the disconnecting player will be given the game loss.*

Oh, yeah, I should note that I won't be available between like noon and 2:30pm Eastern tomorrow. Had something I forgot about when I signed up.

But I'm available the entire rest of the day outside that block so I don't really expect it to be a big deal.

Assuming this is AM, that's exactly when I go unavailable for 2-3 hours lol

I guess prioritize the N/R stuff during that block and I'll look to play all of my stuff in one go once I come available around 2:30 or 3pm EDT (11:30 or noon PDT). I'll be using a deck that I'm not super practiced with (Haven't actually played it outside solo, but have played it a dozen or so times there), so decent chance I'm two and done.

The two of us played eight games this tournament. The Going First player won seven of them. And several of them were actually good games.

I'm very good at blocking out bad losses, I should work on that.

In this case though, I checked the room, saw I had 5 losses, and thought I lost one to Tangy (Which would make it 1x you, 2x Scep the first time, 1x Tangy, and 1x Scep the second time) without double checking.

Regardless, 9 games where the going first player won 8 is even more indicative of a close and silly matchup

yeah second game was just Scep setting up board, then Reg's Evenly Matched getting negated

but it did happen!

Going on 12 years of playing mahjong will do that to a person. I actually expect Scep's pretty good at it too since most of those years were with him LOL

Doomking Balerdroch, for sure. Golden Lord obviously saw more action, but Balerdroch is a huge part of the reason I won some of those close games. (I was half tempted to say Zombie World to pair with Domain of the True Monarchs, but Balerdroch is cooler)

The extra deck is literally just Super Poly targets and a few generically useful links that I hardly ever want to use. I could/should consider running some rank 10s or something instead, but eh.

I forgot about that game too.

Uh, anyway, for the N/R format I think the only reasonable move is to honor the best staple in the format, and that is Paleozoic Dinomischus.

Ok well I was waiting until the "big" update to see if anything major would change and that's passed

Next one's going to be the previously discussed Zexal format (everything pre Duelist Alliance). Hopefully there's enough interest there.

After that I do want to take a break so this one might be the last one for a bit. Maybe once a month or something. Unless someone else wants to run them. I'll probably be around to play casuals and testing still if people are willing.

So next modern/zexal will be either this Sunday or next, whichever one more people can make.

Pretty excited for Zexal, I'm definitely in for both, either Sunday works for me. The latter of the two is Easter Sunday though, so I imagine some people will be busy for that.
